That photo has hundreds of retweets on Twitter.

I’m not sure NSC burying it’s head in the sand and pretending it doesn’t exist will make much difference

It certainly looks like the context in which a black player might use the expression with a fellow black mate. Problem being its not socially PC for a white player to say it to his mate. If cucurella was black i guess it wouldn't be a major deal as some mate's do call each other like that as a laddish term of endearment.

Marc hasn't written it in a way that would be overtly racist like "you're a....." etc, he's written it as if he's a black mate (or so it seems)

As he's not he should have been more careful as it may offend, but genuinely dont believe he did with any malice, more naivety.

One can only hope a baying Man Citeh mob of woke warriors call for any attempts to sign him.to cancelled!

Someone from Albion should have a quiet word, but context and intent is key.

Also, the main mitigating factor, he was using a phrase in a foreign language in which he was far from fluent.

He also spelled the word in the ‘gangsta’ style. This spelling of the word is never (normally) used in the oppressive sense, it’s a spelling for the reclaimed meaning of the word.

It's also worth noting that "Negro" is literally the spanish word for "Black", so a word in common usage there.

I wonder if we would be seeing posts excusing the use of the "N" word if it had been a palace player who had used it rather than (for now) one of our own. I suspect not.

Strange that the article in the Argus today suggests we don’t need to or intend to sell him

Strange that Paul Barber was quoted at Seagulls Down Under suggesting if Man City off 3x-4x his wages it’ll be difficult to keep him.

A player doesnt even discuss personal terms until the club agrees to sell ffs.

Really ? When we send representatives down to South America do you really not believe we put some terms in front of whoever we are interested in representatives?

In that theory that’s the order it should happen in, but in practice it doesn’t. Clubs wont go through the rigmarole of negotiating a fee if they don’t know for certain that all of the personal elements of the deal are agreed.

You agree a fee with the club first or its tapping up which isn't allowed.

But you'd be in all sorts of trouble if it was reported you'd agreed a fee before the clubs agree as per here.

Of course. But it happens between agents and intermediaries. Otherwise how does either party know if they are wasting each others time
