It could be a once in a lifetime chance for him, if the offer is ridiculous then he will surely go. But we hold the cards and should be looking for £60m+!

My, albeit rookie view, is that Cucurella going is inevitable IF Manchester City offer the right amount (only the board will know so it is pointless discussing it).
The real question is how to move forward without him. The way I see it we either a) throw dollar bills about, like Trump trying to fend off sexual assault cases, to desperately try and replace him like for like b) replace him with a couple of players. One who can fill the left sided defensive center part of Cucurella's game and one who can fill in the left sided offense he provided or c) promote from within - maybe a combination of Clarke/Ostigard/Van Hecke/Cochrane
If it were up to me I would probably go for a combo-deal of b) and c). Maybe add Clarke/Van Hecke and then find a left sided offensive defender to cover and compete with March/Trossard (I though Trossard did well in a similar position towards the end of the season).
Anyway those are my thoughts folks. I am still learning these things but the club seems to have plans so I am pretty comfortable about it.

No point in selling because we don't need the money. But if the player wants to go then what can we do.
We suffered for years without a real left sided back so a replacement must be agreed before any sale.
Cucurella seems very happy living Brighton so I think this is not a done deal.

If you look at how much they pay for 1st team footballers, this sort of amount is not big issue for them. I’m hoping TB is talking about the Maguire/Van Djik transfer fees when they contact us. We really have no one else like Cucu, he brought such balance to the team.

The cheapest they've paid for a defender in the last few years is 41m for Ake. a squad defender who they got from a newly relegated side. Everyone else they've paid 50m+ for(Laporte, Cancelo, Dias, Walker, Stones, Mendy).
No chance they'll be getting him for 35-40 and I doubt that's what they're expecting to pay.

Indeed, fills a massive gap for them, and tears a massive hole in our team. Starting bid would be insulting if under £50m. Deal would be done a bit north of that, assuming he wants to uproot his family again

Bearing in mind Cucu’s background, if Pep came knocking, I think he’d have to go. Pep came knocking for Kane last season but now they have Halland, you have to take the opportunity when it comes, Kane will probably never win anymore silverware in his career now.

I agree but did Cancelo have a massive 4 years on his contract when he was sold? He certainly wasn’t Premier League proven like Cucu who showed that he could regularly rinse most teams including humiliating their hated neighbours. I’d be disappointed if they pay the same as they did for Cancelo (despite him being one of the best players in the EPL) but I’d be distraught even if we got £100m, money is of little comfort to me if Cucu goes.

So 9 months of football is all we get from an instant hero, that’s a mere split second in a lifetime of watching the Albion.
I don’t feel the unbridled excitement others are getting here on banking £100m plus in 12 months. Yes I realise TB must do it, but as a supporter I’m interested in performances and results on the pitch.
With years to go in a long contract, proven in the EPL, the power lies with the club, I hope TB takes £50m plus as compensation.

Cancelo had a reputation as one of the best full backs in the world, had already played double figures for a very good Portugal team and was signed from Juve, got In the Serie A team of the season whilst at Inter and Juve paid at least £30 million for him. If we get more than £58 million for Cucu we’ve done very well. Agree about the rest- he’s been an absolute joy.

Romano doesn’t tend to guess anymore. He did, and got lucky. Now he has a few contacts but mostly knows only to post low risk stuff- he knows how important keeping his reputation is. I’d say there is absolutely truth in this. I really wouldn’t be surprised if City and Cucu’s agent have spoken.
