Man Utd v Brighton

PREMIER LEAGUE

Venue: Old Trafford
Date: Saturday 25thth October 2017
Kick-off: 15:00 GMT
Referee: Neil Swarbrick
Assistants: Richard West, Marc Perry
Fourth official: Andre Marriner

TEAM NEWS

Manchester United remain without injured central defenders Phil Jones and Eric Bailly, while Marcos Rojo may not be risked after returning from a long-term knee injury in midweek.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic is not yet ready to start, while captain Michael Carrick remains sidelined.

Brighton report no fresh injuries following Monday's draw with Stoke.

Beram Kayal will travel with the squad after recovering from a broken leg but he is unlikely to play.

MOTD COMMENTATOR'S NOTES

Steve Bower: "After some midweek Champions League frustrations, Manchester United will be fully aware that normal service will need to be resumed in their continued efforts to keep pace with their city neighbours.

"There hasn't been any sign of last season's costly home draws as Jose Mourinho's team look to make it eight consecutive league wins at Old Trafford - with Manchester City their next domestic visitors.

"Brighton arrive unbeaten in five matches and as a current top-half team after a very steady start.

"Their last league meeting against United ended 1-1 at Old Trafford almost 35 years ago. Any kind of repeat would certainly raise some eyebrows."

WHAT THE MANAGERS SAY

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho: "We have four competitions to play and let's go step by step, it's the only thing we can do.

"It is an interesting week because I think it's the first time this season where we have three Premier League matches in one week."

Brighton & Hove Albion manager Chris Hughton: "There aren't many teams at our level that are going to go there and win.

"You've got to play at a very high level and you've certainly got to have that bit of luck that goes with a win away from home at any one of the big clubs."

Manchester United haven't lost at home for ages.

I remember when we went to Forest (in the days when they were a top team) and they hadn't lost at home for even longer.

We won 1 - 0.

Could history repeat itself this afternoon?

I think the gulf in standard is much wider now. Rotten pitch that day as well.

Probably not, but hey! - here's hoping!

World won't end if we lose - and neither will our chances of staying up. Worst that could happen would be to be demoralised by a heavy defeat, so hope we put up a good show. Anything we get will obviously be a bonus, though. UTA!
