Manchester or Leeds - advice needed

We have a choice of one of these northern outposts to stay in on the Friday night before the Carlisle game

Does anyone have any recomendations as to which one is likely to better for bars and clubs etc

Manchester is immense for a night out and I never go down Anal Treat.

I have always had better nights out in Leeds than Manchester and know all the hotels and whatnot so I'd say Leeds!

Only ever been to Leeds for football so can't comment on the night life, but Manchester is a BRILLIANT city. More en route to Carlisle as well - we stayed at Preston last time we went there.

What's Preston like by the way? I believe we have an offer to sleep in someone's front room there on the night in question. Is there anything to report on the nightlife side of things?
