I'd imagine for some of the older ones, the physicality of the PL might be a factor. If they want to prolong their careers, moving to a less challenging league might be an attractive proposition.

I guess also Pep is the sort of bloke always looking to the future. He's maybe told one or two he's looking to buy for their position.

I think you can understand Gundogan going:
  • Offered a longer contract
  • A once-in-a-lifetime chance to play for one of the biggest teams in the world
  • Barcelona is undoubtedly a nicer place to live
  • He's already achieved everything there is to achieve in England
  • Probably more money (?)
Well, obviously. But apart from being offered a longer contract, a once-in-a-lifetime chance to play for one of the biggest teams in the world, a nicer place to live, already achieved everything there is to achieve in England and more money, why would he want to leave?

Maybe footballers wives prefer to live in Paris, Milan, Barcelona, Madrid or Dubai rather than Manchester

He could cover point 3 by signing for Baghdad Rovers.

Yeah but APART from all of that?

Not sure about the more money bit, though – I thought I heard yesterday that he'd be taking a pay-cut. But it's all relative, no? No PL regular is going to be bothering a food bank anytime soon, are they?

Yep, jump before you're pushed, and while you're still at the top, is a good policy.

..........and probably sensible and mutualy beneficial if Pep tells them they're getting near to that stage.

Not sure any of them do. Ronaldo, Mourinho, Pep and de Gea's didn't/don't, and I'm sure many players take flights back to the sun at every opportunity.

FRUIT OF THE BLOOM
they have now won everything there is to win, and want a guaranteed game and try other opportunities

Even those who live in Britain live in Cheshire.
