When Slade first came in, the majority where calling for the rest of the current managerial staff's head's to roll. Now there has been such a turn around. Next season, do people still want Slade to bring in his own staff (if he gets the job ofcourse), or shall we stick with those that have turned us round these past few weeks?

I Dont mind.
If we keep slade and he is happy with the current staff then im happy with that as long as he is given the option of bringing his own in if he declines thats fine.

Not enough choices.... basically the manager should have the freedom to decide on his own staff.

The perceived wisdom on here is that DK has told each incoming manager that he has to work with the existing coaching staff.

I do remember DK saying some time ago that he wanted an incoming manager to work with Bob Booker - either Coppell or Taylor I think it was, and at the time I would have thought that was fair enough as we were doing well.

But what evidence is there that this has been a condition for any incoming manager since? (OK; I realise this is NSC so who needs evidence)

Personally, if I were a manager joining the club I would want to keep the existing staff at least in the short term to help me settle in, unless I was part of an existing double act. And as far as I am aware Slade didn't have an automatic number 2 who worked with him before he came here.

So surely it must be down to the manager to decide and just because he keeps the existing coaching staff should not be taken as evidence that DK has said he must.

I really don't think Booker and White are that bad! Booker can continue as reserve coach but having White as assistant manager is a bit much. Keep them on and get a new assistant manager in I.E. relegate White to something else and we also need a goalkeeping coach.

The main place we need to bolster is the youth set up. Hinshelwood is past it and the hole system is a joke as they get to 15 and 16 year old's and only play friendlies. That's not the way to blood hungry and young professional's.

Let's face it. None of us have any real clue how good or bad White/Booker are. People who work with them at the club (players/staff) might have a bit more of an idea, but only Slade can look at the job in hand and compare them to other assistant managers/reserve coaches/scouts/as possibles for the job.

On the 1 hand White and Booker have been with succesful managers and even now are involved. On the other hand they were part of the failure earlier this season so who knows their value other than Slade.

The bit about Hinshlewood being past it is a bit harsh as I am told that he is very good with parents at securing young players, perhaps we just need some more or new coaches about the place. The problem with non competitive football for 15 & 16 year olds is a national FA problem as it is an acknowledged fact that many boys suddenly follow other things and football becomes secondary at that age and just after. Many return to the game as reasonable non league players in their early 20s.

Let's leave it to the manager, whoever he may be.

You must know a lot about what goes on behind the scenes to be able to quote all that as fact.

Can you enlighten those of us who know nothing of what goes on behind the scenes, please?

We as a club cannot decide to change the whole system. Thats how it works for all clubs in England, so to suggest Hinshelwood should go and someone else should come in on the basis of that is plain stupid.

Also, it was Hinshelwood who got us to the quarter finals of the FA youth cup, beating Chelsea on the way, so he obviously has some idea what he's doing.

If Slade is the manager next season then we should have whoever he wants.

What Slade has done in a short space of time is simply brilliant. He just needs one more result to cap it off.
As for Slade being given the job full time i'm 50/50 about it.Lets not forget Gritt kept us up when we looked doomed for non league and everyone had high hopes for the following season.Gritt failed sadly and was sacked.Could this be another one of those situations? Is Slade the right man to take things a step further? I'm not sure but if he is offered the job then he will certainly get my backing.
