It could have been Coppell, Taylor, Mcgee or even Adams but I now predict that as we take 6 more points this season and survive in div 1, Russell Slade will be the manager who walks out as the boss when we finally tread on the hallowed ground in august 2011.

Not a household name I admit but if we survive now and re-build next season and show promise then he`s got the winning ticket.
Or of course we could survive, come seventh next season and then he gets the bullet.

I think he's done enough to be given the chance, whether we go down or not.

I have no doubt that he SHOULD be offered a longer contract but will he want. If we go down he may edcide its not worth it.

It's far too early to say who will lead the team out as manager when the doors of Falmer are opened. I think he should be the manager at the beginning of next even if we go down. If next season is going as we all hope it will then I think there is a fair chance that other clubs with managerial vacancies will be looking at Mr Slade. If next season is going badly, which I doubt will be the case, Mr Slade's future will be in question.

I reckon Slade could well become an Albion legend, keeps us up and then maybe takes us in to the championship in nex 2 seasons as we get to Falmer!!! He has the passion and enthusiasm that fans love to see.....and he seems to be able to get players performing well. If you see what hes done at so called smaller clubs with very little funding i think he could do pretty well here........................obviously now he'll be off at the end of the season :lolol:

Its amazing what a couple of positive results can do for the fans perception of the manager. he seems almost threequarters of the way to " legend" status already !

Hopefully he will prosper and good results will continue, however, if he gets the sign of approval from Uncle Spielberg he'd best shove off quick.

He reminds me of Tony Pullis - no nonsense approach with good player relationship, not afraid to speak his mind. Not pretty but effective and focused

Slade should be given a full season IMHO. There's a residual of old lags doing their best to con him into further contract extensions at the moment which makes me query his ability to take the hard decisions, but he's out there screaming and yelling on the touchline, seems to be a decent man-manager, and he's formed a rapport with the crowd. Should be given a fair crack of the whip. Certainly preferable to Gannon and the non-settling-Down-South Stockport family.

I agree with the sentiments, but lets get the job done this season eh?

Of course, the first choice of a new manager for any club would be some big name big shot but that still does not guarantee big success..

In Russell Slade, I think we have stumbled across someone who's chemistry locks in well with the set up this club currently has.. That is something no one can predict, even with a big name, so I think now that we have someone that seems to fit and work well within the club we should do our utmost to keep him. For how long, I do not know, but he certainly deserves the chance to lead the Blue and White stripes proudly on to the fine turf in August 2011..
