What happens when an A team and B team are in the same division or the B team surpasses the A team?

In Spain where this scenario crops up, the B team/reserve team is demoted if the first team is relegated to their division and is not allowed to be promoted if it means they'd be promoted to the division their first team is in. Think this cropped up about 10 years ago when Atletico Madrid were relegated to the Segunda Division which Atletico's B team was already in and so they were forced to drop down to the next level. I think Real Madrid's B team is currently in the Segunda Division as well, so there could be potential for them to finish in a promotion place.

Olympic standard whingeing on 606 tonight, up and down the country their " Supporters " are pitching in to poor old Moyes. That's the trouble when you get spoilt for all those years, now they know a little of what it means to be a real fan.:D

Great post.

On a related theme, if you rewind one season from then to 1996/97, there were 4 teams in the Third Division that season now in the Premier League - Cardiff, Swansea, Hull and Fulham, as well as Wigan who were in the Premier League until this season for 8 seasons running.

On the other side of the coin, there were another 7 teams in the Third Division that season who are currently outside the Football League, if indeed they are anywhere at all - Chester, Cambridge, Barnet, Darlington, Lincoln, Scarborough and Hereford.
