United’s Cup Final was against Liverpool last weekend, they won’t be up for playing Lil Ol Brighton. They will turn up EXPECTING to win, hopefully this will be their downfall. They could, of course, take us apart with minimal effort if we are not 100% motivated and just play to contain them. To have any chance Stephens must play.

The manager and fans made a home game versus Liverpool the centre of their season’s universe, and didn’t turn up for the truly vital match against Sevilla. Almost small club. Taggart used to have tunnel vision for the ultimate prizes, with results in derbies the icing on the cake. Standards have slipped, especially with ManC crushing them.

This season, Ben Yedder has scored more goals against the Premier League to 6 than Lukaku. BOOM.

Just have to hope that they play as badly as they did against Palace. A better team (which we have) would have beaten them that night as they were absolutely terrible. Fortunately Palace still managed to cock it up but United were shocking.

A little footnote maybe ... I was in Salford on Tuesday night and decided to wander over to Old Trafford on the vague off-chance there might be a seat available. (Stupid question, there wasn't.)

What struck me as very odd indeed was that at 7.50pm there were still hundreds of fans milling around outside the ground, and loads more casually walking to the ground from Salford Quays as if they had all the time in the world. The game had kicked off five minutes earlier. It was a crucial Champions League game, not an end-of-season formality against a lesser side.

We have endless debates here about fans leaving early. Maybe at Man U the issue is fans arriving late?
