Reid didn't pull up any trees. He was ok but missed a great chance in the second half and was way off MOM IMHO.

NSC voters must have had too many :drink: :drink: :drink: :drink: :drink: :drink: :drink: :drink: :drink: :drink: :drink: :drink: :drink: :drink: :drink: :drink: :drink: :drink: :drink: :drink: :drink: :drink: :drink: :drink: :drink: :drink: :drink: :drink: :drink: :drink:

reid wasnt anything special, one thing he could do well was pass but you didnt really notice he was there, cullip would have been my MOM as he made a few crucial tackles!

The only comment I will make was that there was a split vote between Roberts and Reid.

Reid won

I've sat with a friend in the North Stand a few times, and you get a very different view of the game at that level. Maybe, they saw or missed things different to us in the South Stand.

I though Reid did OK and would like to see more of him. As for next season, I would offer him say a 6-month contract.

MOM, would have to be Chris, won loads of ball, layed off fairly well and did some good knock-ons. Cullip and Butters were both strong (Cullip had his best game for quite some time IMHO).

Piercey showed again that he can read the game, and I hope that some more fans will have noticed that once Jones came on we looked more lively and threatening.

I agree about Iwelumo winning loads in the air but he looks so clumsy with the ball at his feet-he missed a great chance in the 2nd half when he only had the keeper to beat(Knight was guilty of that as well)

Funny how we see different things. I thought Chris had his worst game for us by a long way.

To be honest no-one really stood out as MoM.

There were some votes for Roberts, but a lot more for Reid. I tend to think that giving the MoM to the keeper kind of implies that we were under the cosh for a lot of the game, which wasn't true.

No-one voted for Chris or Cullip, although there were a few votes for Chippy. I thought Leon had a good second half.

it was one of those matches when everyone would have a different idea of MoM.

Despite London Irish's protestations about bandwagons, as London Irish says in his own match report in another thread, we gave it to Reid because...

"blimey - we were a semi-passing team today! 4-3-3, Reid right side..."

..."straight away Reid launches a superb passing move with a brilliant cross ball..."

"a delight to see Reid looking comfortable on the ball..."

"Reid was a big plus..."

You don't need to justify your selection - it is your opinion as Match Sponsors.

I thought Reid played well today. I can't remember the last time we had a midfielder making positive runs into the box like he did and he was unlucky not to score.

Don't forget everyone, this was his full debut playing with players he has only trained with for a couple of weeks and people on here are running him down already!

Maybe he wasn't the best man on the pitch (I'd have gone for Roberts) but after recent midfield performances you can see why people were swayed to naming him MOM. And don't forget he played an hour of the game on a yellow card so he had to be very careful.

Looks a damn good prospect and was the most pleasing aspect of todays game for me - could be exactly what we need heading into the play-offs

My vote actually went to Piercey but only one other person agreed with me.

That is exactly what we've been missing all season... I thought he looked class today and he or DC would have got my vote for MOM

Well, you know what us bandwagonners are like. Especially when we've been at the trough stuffing down all those prawn cocktails and swimming in that lake of alcohol Mr Glover is convinced lies within the bowels of the hospitality suite!

Actually, it was quite difficult to reach a concensus because no single player stood out as an obvious man of the match. Piercey was a front runner for some time and the vote between Reid and Roberts was pretty close. Chippy had a good game unlike Chris who seemed off form and somewhat distracted at times.

There were others who found the award something of a surprise too....!

That is very true. The North Stand offers a closer view of individual players and man-on-man action, but no sense whatsoever of the shape of the game. The dug-out must be the worst place to watch a game from.

I'm sure this is why we southstanders are regularly baffled by post-match comments from the gaffer - he's been watching players and not the game.

When he first joined the Club, Steve Coppell used to stand for the first half at the back of the North Stand to get a better feel for the team he was working with. I assume that the difference between the North Stand and South Stand views explains why Andy Naylor's Argus assessment of player performance is usually quite at odds with the way we score the team on NSC.

As for the decision by the drunken buffoons of NSC to give the MOM bottle of champers to Mr Reid, all I will say is that some of our number like to get their shirts signed and Paul Reid is a new hand on the pen. Most of the girlies had their eyes on Chris Iwelumo, but they were persuaded that they didn't know what they were talking about and that they should just concentrate on their knitting.

Considering all the hard work and effort she put into arranging NSC to be sponsors of this match. then she has every right to be.
:)

Thanks Lush for arranging it.

Btw if anyone wants to choose MoM next year then contact Lush with your £220 and then you can choose for yourselves.....
