Also, Webster (who also played very well) got away without being booked for a quite superbly late tackle in the first 15 minutes or so (I think). The sort of tackle that gets you a yellow all day long any time later in the game. Crazy how referees so often let bad tackles go when it's early.
We were saying just the same in the pub last night. But I think the referees are being sensible here. After fifteen minutes they’re still trying to work out whether the game will descend into a foul-fest and are letting things go without cards as probable one-offs. In the second half, they need to exert more control to stop the natural increase in fouls as teams get desperate.
