Shot down? Or bomb? Or a malfunction? Lot's of wild speculation currently.
Russian Militants posted on Russian media sites that they had shot down another Ukrainian cargo plane, when reports started a passenger jet was missing these posts disappeared
Why would Ukranian forces shoot down a plane - I wasn't aware that the Russian militants had any planes?!
Ukrainian rebels will not have the technology to shoot down a flight at 33000 feet. Military flights generally fly at a lower levels, so easier to shoot down with shoulder mounted weapons. If indeed it was shot down at that height, only governments would have the technology to do this. Russia or the Ukraine is my guess - Probably an accident, because neither side would have anything to gain from this.
They do have a missile battery just outside Donetsk big enough to do this according to military specialist on Sky News, they have been getting several BUK missiles from Russian in the past few weeks
If true, not likely that Rebels are manning it in my opinion, that kind of tech would be left to the pro's. Whoever did it, they would have nothing to gain from this. So a tragic error has been made by someone. IMO.

Why would either side shoot down a passenger airline deliberately? As I have already said, nothing to gain in the slightest by this.

Who is to say that the Ukrainian rebels haven't been armed by the Russians, or have the Russian military fighting with them?
Maybe they mistook it for another transport plane?
