Off to Malaga next week. Has anyone got any recommendations for restaurants, places of interest, things to do etc?

Walk up to the alcazabar from the steps next to the park by the port. Rather than get the bus up there. Great views. Good workout as well.

Port has good but expensive shops if you like that sort of thing.

Interactive music museum us good if you have kids. Picasso museum also good.

Day trip out to sabanillas if you want a cheaper beach day.

If you're in the old town you really only have to close your eyes and walk 5 yards and you'll bump into a decent restaurant.

Get the Flamenquin. Cheese, porker, deep fried heart attack. Moorish (as in you'll want more not a cultural leftover)

After exploring the Old Town visit Antigua Casa de Guardia, oldest bar in Malaga and the original Guardia station/cells. Local wines from the barrels, prices chalked on the bar where you stand. Also does seafood tapas but for the best tapas etc walk round the corner to the indoor market - seafood to die for. If still here on a Sunday a visit to the Motor Museum is a must as they start up a handful of cars around midday. The females of the family also enjoy the museum as displays incorporate fashion displays akin to the period. Visit El Pimpi even if you just walk through the old venta to admire the signed barrels and photos of the famous. Food is good too! A visit to Tintero Dos is a must. No menu the waiters just walk around the bar shouting what they have. Bill tallied on your table - extremely popular so get there before the main lunchtime rush and try to avoid weekend days. Enjoy yourself whatever you do.

One thing that makes Malaga great for a short city break is the easy and quick train journey from the airport. No need for cabs or transfers. Agree with other posters on ideas - especially the alcazabar as said by Oh_aye
