68,000 NEW CASES TODAY

I know it takes a while for the lockdown to take effect but why the **** are people still going sabout normal business?? Everyone should be at home and stay at home unless it is absolutely essential. Pictures i am seeing are showing busy roads, packed supermarkets, garden centres. Schools reporting they are more than half full with pupils.

Surely football and elite sport has got to be suspended soon?

We need a stricter lockdown with harsher penalties for the covidiots breaking the simplest of rules.

Just stay at home until you are told otherwise.

You should see the state of my local retail park, and my barometer in terms of public behaviour. Yesterday I was on my daily stroll and got run over by a trolley FULL of toys that the 4 kids pushing it had lost control of. With their 2 parents, i assume, plus some other troll f-ing and blinding at both the kids and me!
As long as there's places you can buy plastic toys and fizzy pop open the shops and retail parks are going to be rammed.

These places that sell only a small percentage of food/essentials shoud be forced to close or to at least seal off all their non essential goods. I think remaining retail is a massive source of infections, supermarkets too which have no social distancing procedures or one way systems like in March.

We should be protecting the over 65s. This is madness, now.

Over 1300 deaths, London in a state of emergency, and a third vaccine approved but can't be delivered until Spring because of Brexit.
Another day in paradise.

Someone in my family works at Worthing Hospital. In Lockdown 1, there were few CV19 ICU beds occupied at anyone time, which in the summer whittled down to 1 then 0.

It's now an emergency, all nursing staff and specialist practicioners told from Monday, to work on the ever expanding CV19 wards. Full PPE and extensive hygiene protocols. The numbers there, for a small conurbation, either on a ward or now critically ill in ICU with the virus are astonishing. Far greater than Brighton per capita.

This is all heading the way of Spain and Italy in the spring. The big saving grace, according to the likes of Dr Chris Smith et al, hospitals across the world now know exactly how to save lives.

One footnote, every patient on a ward under 60 with the virus, is morbidly obese.

have Moderna said that? they only have one production facility, they need to build out capacity, being a small company that's right place and time with their new tech.

1 in 20 people apparently thought to have it in parts of London now (which parts, I'm not 100% sure). That seems an absolutely mind boggling ratio of people to have it at precisely the same time - no wonder hospitals are at breaking point.

Lockdown has got to mean lockdown. The current one is again pathetic and not doing anything to help reduce transmission and protect the NHS.

The EU are taking delivery of them from next week.

Two weeks after Christmas, however...

Wales’s Mark Drakeford was asked point blank this morning why he spent Nov & Dec saying that Xmas would go ahead. Only changing his mind with barely days to go.

He said the game changer was the news from scientists on 20 December about the effects of the new variant.

That the Welsh government were allowing Xmas up until then, as things hadn’t markedly changed, and that the public had pressured for an Xmas break from restrictions.

Although a separate nation, without a clear explanation for England, that must explain the thinking across the 4 nations before and after the scientific news, the timeline.

It’s woefully inadequate.

85% of folk abided by the rules in Lockdown 1.

The numbers of the bored, covid deniers, covidiots and ********s have swelled many fold. Young people wandering around supermarkets refusing to wear a mask.

Tougher laws were needed, enforced by police and supermarket security guards, no ifs or buts.

My OH has just got off the phone to her brother who is a bus driver on Liverpool. Hardly anyone wears masks on the bus, 2% he reckons, and Arriva told their drivers that can't refuse people getting on without masks !! Groups of kids getting on without masks. Farcical, and we wonder why this is spreading like wildfire

Brexit ?

Moderna is a US Company, making it in the US. We weren’t expecting any before the spring. Trump purloined most of the initial stocks for the US.

Nobody was forced to mix at Christmas. Everyone knew the risks.

100% this........

Unfortunately there is a large cohort of stupid, selfish, covid-denying ‘I know my rights’ fvcktards who are largely responsible for the spreading. The same people, in some cases, that will be blaming the government for the impact.

Stay at home FFS.
