Who determines whether a job matters? I can't think of many that don't.
Admittedly nurses etc. are particularly critical at this time, and always key, but in normal times so are plumbers such as yourself, planners, shop workers, bin men, etc.
Do you think museums matter, for example? Or just certain types of museum?

As well as M&S and Poundland, I was in Morrison's earlier too and it's now a 3 items of beer & 3 bottles of wine per customer limit since I was last in there due to customer demand.
Looks like more people have finally discovered M&S is a winner too, as there was a far bigger queue to get in than last time and very little wine left under £10 a bottle. I made my first >£30 Contactless payment in there as well.
There's certainly some serious drinking going on in the country.
(I helped myself to 3 cases of Heineken at £8 each and 3 bottles of on offer Wolf Blass in Morrison's as they were there though, in addition to the 2 bottles of £10 Argentine red I picked up in M&S . )

Didn't put this in the good news thread as - whilst it looks increasingly positive for Italy, and to a lesser extent Spain, the US is still concerning.
Fortunately not, I try and avoid anything Miranda is in.
The US is REALLY concerning, as at this point, 18.15 GMT, 34, 000 new cases so far today. Bear in mind the time delay and it could be as many as 45000-50000 new cases today. I'm struggling to see how Trump can put any kind of positive spin on this in the next 2-3 weeks, I'd expect him to scale down the press conferences so he does not have to be the bearer of bad news and statistics and his connection to them.
He already passes on any important questions to the experts and spouts incoherent gibberish about tents, so no change there. I for one hope he continues as it's one of the few bits of light relief on the news.

PS this is the same Prof Karol Sikora that advocates getting rid of the NHS. I recommend Anthony Costello, Tedros, and Neil Ferguson. I don't recommend Patrick Vallance who, unfortunately, is in a position of maximum influence.
Czech Republic
Cases 3,604 Deaths 40
Brighton & Hove
Suspected cases 9,053 Deaths 10
wtf?
Genuinely shocked seeing those figures today. Looks like the forced masking up here was good in the end despite the annoyance.

Where is the source for this please? Suspected cases for example, the BBC local case checker has 50 confirmed cases for Brighton and Hove.
What's the relevance of the comparison, Dave? Brighton was bound to have a reasonable number of cases given its proximity to London and the number of commuters. Why is the death rate in Czechia 4 x higher?

The deaths is an accurate figure the suspected cases is based on calls to 111 or 999 or online contacts regarding symptoms it's a figure that wouldn't surprise me though
It would be helpful if you could link to an article which shows that. I can find references for him seeking alternative ways of funding the NHS i.e. visits to the GP, but that is not 'getting rid of the NHS'.
