Johnson has nothing to offer except his office. funny thing is if he just pushed them out front he'd be criticised for that too. any other sensible politican would be doing the same, thankful we havent got Trump who's utterly gash at this (and has forced panic in financial markets).

I'm never going to vote for the guy but personally think Boris is handling this as well as can be expected.

I'd love to be able to ask him candidly, and receive an honest answer, whether he'd have thrown his hat into the ring for the PM job if he'd have known this was hiding around the corner.

Agree totally . Voted for him to get brexit done never voted Tory before . Like it or not he is getting advice from his two experts and we have to except it’s the right way . Personally I think you can see the fear in his face as he tells us what’s about to happen . How would Corbyn have delivered it better . It’s time to come together stop bickering and pray w get through it .

The cross over of Tory donors and Lloyd's names is probably quite significant. If the government closes them then " force majeure" coverage is a straightforward claim should they have it. Just advising their customers not to go has far less effect on their liabilities.

I just can’t fathom for the life of me why other counties are taking such decisive action so much earlier than we did.

Canada has approximately 324 confirmed cases of the coronavirus across all 10 provinces. There are an additional 17 presumptive cases. One death has been linked to the disease.

The federal government has urged all Canadians to avoid non-essential travel and to return home where possible.

They have also announced financial stimulus measures for businesses and are promising relief this week for Canadians who are affected financially.

Some provinces and cities have implemented their own measures to prevent contagion and have called on the federal goverment to do more.

Over the weekend, Quebec - where there are about 39 cases - asked establishments like bars, cinemas, arenas, and gyms to close indefinitely.

Has the Government really said you should avoid visiting elderly relatives ? Or is that an interpretation ?

I'd genuinely be interested as to what exactly the advice is, as I certainly wouldn't stop visiting elderly relatives

As with every number that seems to be touted as fact, that report makes no reference as to why they are in intensive care.

They may well all have been hospitalized from the virus.
Alternatively they may well have already been in ICU and have since contracted Coronavirus while their immunity is struggling.

An epidemiologist on LBC yesterday in answer to callers questions was very clear that no previously healthy children had died to his knowledge, he said that luckily their natural immune systems appear to be very effective against COVID-19. It’s a puzzle, no one knows quite why yet.

Of course we don’t know what’s gone on behind closed front doors in Wuhan, with households left to their own devices to die or survive.

I’m struggling to understand the non closure of schools. Apparently children are not suffering from the virus but can be carriers. That leaves teachers in a very vulnerable position as the only profession required to not work from home and every day be in a public place with hundreds of potential carriers.

I would have thought school closures other than year 11 and 6th Form due to exams coming up

Has this happened yet ? I would have thought they will have to arrange some way for people to visit (even if it is severely limited), if the lockdown is going on beyond a couple of weeks.

Phone calls, skype but Dad would not have a scobby about that as most 85 plus would not I think
