Why apparently? They showed footage on most news programmes and has been covered in the press conferences

In other news, seems that Sussex may have had the first outbreak, way back at the end of January:

https://www.telegraph.co.uk/global-...-sussex-family-may-have-infected-coronavirus/
"A family from East Sussex may have been Britain’s first coronavirus victims, catching the virus in mid-January after visiting an Austrian ski resort which is now under investigation for allegedly covering up the early outbreak."

Blimey. I would hope there are serious consequences if they did cover it up.

Half this thread is garbage.

Conspiracy theories and political point scoring etc from people with too much time during lockdown.

The other half is interesting info which makes me keep reading :annoyed:

Also, if Maresfield man is UK Patient Zero, and we are 1 month further into this than originally suspected, then that is surely encouraging news, with more immunity in Sussex and beyond than previously thought.

“Please note these figures do not cover a 24 hour period.”

They don’t normally tag that on the end. Could explain the numbers today.

One comment suggests today's are figures from 1pm yesterday

That has to be good news if correct.

Though it is slightly odd we’ve gone from 87 to 28. Makes me wonder if there was some crossover on the numbers from the day before into today? Seems plausible given the new announcement time.

Perhaps it was actually more like: Tuesday 60 and Wednesday 55

That twitter thread seems to say that the figures are usually 9am-9am, but that Tuesday was 9am(Mon)-1pm(Tues) - ie; more than 24 hours, hence Wednesday then not being the full 24 hours (1pm Tues - 9am Weds). If that's the case, then it probably is something more like 60-ish on both days, which is fairly consistent with the few days before.

There is a positive to that in the idea that figures have stayed roughly the same throughout rather than that odd spike on tuesday which I was worried was going to be the start of the real upward trend.
That's not to say the upward trend wont come but delaying it is a good thing.

Yep. Makes sense.
