Government offers loans to businesses already in debt and that have no customers to generate the income to service the debt. Cunning plan.

How does this compare with how France and Germany have offered money to help?
Does anyone know?
It would be interesting to see if there is a difference.

Wish they would close schools for a few weeks, but they won't. My 5 year old is slightly asthmatic, my wife is a teacher and is also asthmatic. Everyday my daughter and wife go to school is a gamble. I know I'm not the only one in this position and I completely understand the situation is even worse for those who work in the NHS. Let's hope and prey this virus buggers off. We know it won't go completely, but just to the point people can get back on with their life and the NHS doesn't have this threat over their heads.

Might alleviate some worrying re asthma and allergies:

I am sure that policies for renters, the self employed and others will be announced in coming days. The Chancellor is making a statement to the Commons at 7 and will certainly be asked some pertinent questions on these areas.

Not sure how many people are going to trust others to prepare their food when we go full-Italy and how many people will want to spend a rapidly decreasing weekly budget on take-away food but that’s the sort of legislation that is useful.

Yeah agree.

Mate of mine at work was talking about the deals on Uber Eats and Deliveroo etc. and all I could think was "Until this blows over I'm not eating anything that's not been prepared by me or my girlfriend"

That's an awful lot of trust to put in your girlfriend.

On the flipside, when in lockdown and out of alcohol at home, I can go to my local (50 yards away) and walk out with a pint. (Avoiding police snipers, obv)

China appear to have done very well in the last 2 weeks, daily cases now down to very low increases. Not sure we’ll be able do t he same, I’m seeing pictures from America and parts of the UK of groups of people out partying and thousands of people on a beach in florida, I guess people here don’t fear the establishment as much as they do in China.

But they'll be screwed when they end it won't they?

Begs the question, what is the answer? You put these restrictions in place, you miss one person who is infected with no symptoms and then the process starts again? I’m by no means an expert but I’m struggling to see the answer, I’m assuming China are trying to keep it in check until a vaccine or miracle cure comes along.

Have you been following this crisis on any other medium other than NSC!!!

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/education-51643556

Northern Ireland stating it will be minimum of 16 weeks when they close. Most sources reporting that the peak of infections will be May/June which is 12 weeks away.

Yes but to date nothing suggests it's about to happen here. Just that its constantly under review. Thought you might have known something more
