Not really sold on him, not yet anyway.

Interesting to see - how many of the 'Team for XXX' threads include posts including Dahoud in the preferred team?

I was surprised to see so many people chose to have him come straight back in for the Burnley game, having just been coming back from a suspension. Not sure if that was just because we're down to Bare Bones™, or if they thought he'd been well rested, or if they actual rate him.

It's fair to say he hasn't hit the ground running, but I'm certainly not saying he's not good enough or writing him off. If anyone can get him firing, it's RDZ.

Keep the faith and all that.

Went back and checked the 'Team for Burnley' thread - and I was surprised too! Don't know how many of those were expecting him to be included, and how many wanted him included though.

I still rate Mo Dahoud, we haven't seen anything good from him yet at all really but it's inevitably going to take some time to settle him in. A bit like Billy Gilmour last season, I think that beyond Christmas he's going to really start showing us something and his form will be where it needs to be. I also think he'd benefit from not coming into and out of the team, he could do with the team selection settling down so he can really find his groove. I'm confident he will - he's a quality footballer with a brain to suit our football.

You just can never tell can you ….One would thought he would have been out the box ready (which is what we need ) !!!

He has got a signature move which he overuses. Unlike Dunk’s chest back to the keeper or Groß’s Cruyff turn, it’s all risk no reward.

He does this body swerve where he lets the ball roll across the body to spin his man. The problem is he does it at least twice per game, with a 50% success rate. Normally he’s doing this move while receiving the ball deep in our half on the turn, and when he loses the ball it’s extremely risky.

Once you notice you can’t unsee it.

So far, Dahoud looks all fizz and no gin. He pops little sideways passes about, but looks weak in the tackle, weak in the air, shooting not great, and not the quickest either. To me, so far he is exactly what we don’t need in there - a passenger who isn’t going to impact the game.

I think he could improve, it is early days - the line ups are being so heavily rotated at the moment so there is a lot of flexible positioning which is perhaps making it harder for him to bed in. At the moment his playing style doesn’t seem to fit our flowing football but he’s 27 years old - he should be at the peak of his game, not getting silly red cards or looking slow out there. I’m not massively excited about any of our midfielders at the moment, only Baleba seems to have the potential to be a great one.

Good point……..I always see that thread as ‘guess what RdeZ will do’, not ‘what line up do I want’…..

i think it was fair to say the he was coming into his own a bit more until the sheffield united red card. but as far as a mac allister replacement goes, been very underwhelming

His place in the squad can go to a genuine EPL-capable DM able to perform straight out the box please.

Gilmour has that wrapped up. Groß, Hinshlwood and Moder can all perform as a playmaker in the centre too.

It’s the Caicedo replacement we have a problem with. Baleba is all amazing potential but is not the player to get us back into the top six this season.

Almost like trying to replace Alexis and Caicedo on the cheap wasn’t the greatest idea

Wasn’t this meant to be an RDZ signing as it were ?

Starting a revolution from my bed
Based on the way he played at previous clubs and his underlying stats, it’s pretty clear he wasn’t going to be able to step into Mac’s shoes. He’s poor in duels, not great in tight spaces/on the half turn and doesn’t cover enough ground. Looks classy on the ball when he has a bit of time and has a good passing range but that is not enough to succeed in a Premier League team. I guess there was a hope he’d improve in his weaker areas and was a bit of a free hit gamble transfer luckily. Imagine if we’d paid money for him - we’d be far more disgruntled.
