Not a headline I expected to read this morning!

From what I know of his post-playing career he's well-qualified for it, so good luck to him.

Give the fella a break, a poor choice of worlds doesn’t make someone a racist which is what I think some are alluding to. Unexpected appointment maybe, I think most of us would have expected a higher profile ex player.

Never crossed my mind that Tom is a racist just why the chap would be an absurd appointment

Obviously qualified black person gets job previously held by white person

Poster on messageboard immediately describes the appointment as absurd, refuses to say why, then hides behind a few pitiful jokes.

Got to say, it crossed my mind

So many fans think that footballers don’t have brains let alone academic abilities. He is a qualified lawyer and has been CEO of a club.

And many users of NSC don't realise that other users of NSC have brains and also a sense of fun.

To a Brighton fan Maheta Molango is a cult figure who turned up from the Congo, scored on his debut and then vanished into the ether. Most are unaware of his subsequent career, I certainly was. He is clearly an eminently talented person but that doesn't make this headline any less amusing in first look.

Phil Stant appointed Ambassador to Belarus
Agustin Battipiedi Commander Argentinian 5th fleet
John Crumplin new CEO of Asda
Lorenzo Pinamonte EU Commissioner for Agriculture
Moheta Molango head of the PFA

It's all absurd and I revel in absurdity.

This holier than thou attitude from some is rather killing the vibe though punish:

No, he didn't, he was born in Switzerland. When we signed him, he had been playing in Germany.

You seem determined to talk him down. Why is that?

Follow up article today, seems to be more focused on his time with us https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/...=Social&utm_source=Twitter#Echobox=1615932819 again, it is behind a paywall.

Maheta Molango, the man who is set to become the next chief executive of the Professional Footballers’ Association after 40 years of Gordon Taylor’s reign, only made a handful of appearances for Brighton & Hove Albion but that was enough to go down in club folklore.

Molango, 38, is remembered as Brighton’s “12-second man”, which is how long it took him to score on his debut for the club, away to Reading in the Championship in August 2004. It was the high point for the Swiss-born striker, who was 22 at the time — he never scored for the club again.

Only if some SWINE were to google 'Molango Albanian agent'. But I'm sure everybody's too busy happily clapping into their mittens to be doing any such thing eh?

The shortlist would've been positively puny if they ruled out every ex-player who'd had a dodgy agent.

Well I haven’t a clue what his qualifications are as opposed to someone like Robbie Savage and was wondering why Tom thought it absurd...... I think I realise now that maybe he thought higher profile ex players were going to be in the runnering. Race mmm not Tom...... of course unless he thought he was only in the running because he was black. Now you see a different argument ensues that if he ISNT the best guy for the post.

It should be a black female ex player who is a lesbian anyway if we are going down that road.

I think it was the speed of the initial assumption that was wasn't qualified for the role that was eyebrow raising to me and one or two others ..... but then it all got cleared up ... that it was just a bit of banter or something ... so that's all ok.

To be honest I’m none the wiser. THPP has never struck me as racist though .......so it’s Robbie Savage for me anyway

Speed of the initial assumption was that it was an absurd appointment. Tho having slept on it overnight... have reached the exact same assumption. Tho carry on with with your half-arsed little attempt at angry mobbing. Always love it when NSC half-wits have a go at one of those :lolol:
