The car was hired two weeks after she went missing but her DNA would have been all over their stuff so it's more likely it was contaminated after she disappeared than Gerry digging her up and driving her rotting body around in it. OK, I take your point. The Police have to look at everything so won't definitively rule out mum and dad. What is clear though is they have reissued evofits of two fair haired men seen arguing outside the complex, a charity knocker boy who was entering the complex through back gates and moved the timeline back by up to 45 minutes when Gerry McCann couldn't have done it.

I would guess that any parent in this position wants closure - find a body, find a kidnapper, find Maddie. For until this closes, a small glimmer of hope must exist.

My Missus and I watched the programme and recited what we did with our kids when away on holiday. When you have kids, every minute of your life is engaged with risk assessment and making choices. Most times [hopefully] you get it right, occassional something goes wrong.

We were both HORRIFIED that THREE sets of parents all deemed it risk acceptable to leave children unattended at night, especially in a strange / unknown environment.

The Police are unlikely to be under any such orders. It would only take one officer to state that and there would (rightly) be outrage...no senior officer would agree to a root and branch investigation with such rigid rules.

Without trawling through each post, I wonder if those that are so ready to condemn the parents that have paid the ultimate price are from the generation where 100% monitoring children is expected even demanded.

When they feel that perhaps is time for their 12 year old to go and 'play' yes 'play' and yes 12 !! with their friends unsupervised, they arm them with an appropriate smartphone to ease their fears of imminent abduction.

As parents we overall try and play it by the book, but every so often we stray a wee bit from what we would normally do, we get away with it, perhaps even the children benefit from less parental intervention, its a tragic set of circumstances that for me finds no blame.
