Macclesfield - our first opponents at 'home' post-Goldstone have exited the League

15 years ago, Macclesfield's first League away game was against us, our first game at Priestfield. I can't remember an awful lot about it except for the crapness of Gillingham and Macclesfield's massive defender who wore one of those white gangster-stylee stocking hat thingies. Oh, yes and the Macclesfield fans ripping the piss out of us for being shite and homeless. Fast forward 15 years and they're now non-league and we were a decent striker away from being in the play-offs for the Premiership.

Has anyone else got any clearer memories of that day?

Yep I remember being totally depressed even though it was the 1st game of the season, a few mates and I had pretty well half the Gordon Road satnd to ourselves. The only good thing about those days was being able to park right beside the stadium. Still do that now in the infamous Bennett's Field and I reckon I could get back to Worthing from Gillingham quicker than I can from Falmer :lolol:

Was it Macclesfield who had a very fat fan who was really up for the banter when the crowd started taking the piss?
