the boys coming from Heathrow, can you not try and get on the M3 or A3 and head south and then come across country to Petworth etc and then down to Brighton?

Get on re trains boys. I was gob smacked at how cheap it was when I turned up and paid on the day last week from s.bucks after hearing all the nightmare hundreds of quid storiess about public transport you hear these days. Saved £15 in petrol and could have a few pints/chat with mates there and back. Do it! Into London out via London bridge, change @ east Croydon and grab Lewes fast train. 1 stop falmer and loads seats because everyone else going via Brighton! Perfect

Heard there was a lot of diesel spilled on the road which causes the tasrmac to degrade. Imagine they are having to resurface. Doubt that they're just a bit slow at picking up th bits. Find another route

Surely get off at J10 down the A3 then across from Petersfield or even turn off at Guildford and follow the A281 down to the A24 to Worthing. Probably best to avoid getting off at J9 as that is the last junction before the closure.

Did it last night guys, drove down from Derby. Anti clockwise traffic tailback starts just after junction 10. It will take forever on M25.

I came off M25 at junction 10 head towards portsmouth/guildford on a3 then first turn on left about 1 or 2 miles down is country road towards ockham and east horsley, (or something like that) when you drive through east horsley village you will see signs for leatherhead, via great Bookham. follow them, then approaching leatherhead signs for A24 Dorking/Horsham.

Went down to buck barn then left to cowfold then rejoined M23. Know 2 people that hit the M25 tailback and it took hours to get through.

Coming off at junction 10 last night we kept moving and it only added 30 mins or so.

Good luck, its carnage around junction 10 to 8 anti clockwise.

Cheers. I'm tossing up between this and Drew's suggestion above. I know my way around your suggestion fairly well so that may be the one.

See you all there.

I'd be thinking about heading into Surbiton. Easy, cheapish car parking one road back from the main street behind the shops. Very fast trains into Waterloo. Then first train to Clapham Junction (one every couple of minutes) & the express to Brighton.

Probably other rail options but that's the one I know that would work.

Likewise, from Heathrow I would think abt driving into London. Chiswick has a good service to Clapham Junction.... But may be cutting it fine if you're not leaving the airport til 11. Better than not making it all though.

All the Surbo to Waterloo trains stop at Clapham anyhow. Can do Falmer in 1.5 hrs from Surbo.

yeah, diesel fucks up tarmac really bad, basically melts it. someones train from surbiton via Clapham sounds like a good idea, though probably £20 a pop. getting off M25 at Leatherhead for the A24 is good too, then either follow down to Worthing or cut across to A23. AA shows 0mph congestion between J9 and J8, so they probably divert people down through Reigate to Godstone.

or put another way, get a map out if your coming down that way.

Gus and I have to come from Orpington - not together obviously.

Can we get onto the M23 from a clockwise direction on the M25?
Any help appreciated.

I hope the Donny fans are prepared for this, makes it a bit of a nightmare journey for those driving, of which I'm sure there are a fair few

I noticed last night also, there are no signs for Amex coming into Brighton on the M23. Most towns you got to have brown football stadium direction signs.

As I guess most away fans will come down the M23 there is nothing to tell them to turn left for the A27. I guess many will head straight over into Patcham and Brighton.

come on Council.

Driving back from Thorpe Park last night, I hopped off the M25 at J12 luckily just before the carnage. Headed for Epsom, picked up the A24 there and was home and hosed in a total of about 2 hours, so it could've been worse.

just been passed the scene on the train as you come out of the purley tunnel, I'm no engineering expert but there is a crane, loads of police cars oil coloured sand all over the road , I'd be surprised if it's going to be open in the next few hours, especially if they need to resurface the road!
