Well I hope some people you all like die in a plane crash then! :censored:

(Ok, obviously I don't REALLY hope that, but for us Skynyrd fans it's still a sad loss. So show a bit of decorum please!)

No offence was intended - I kinda thought that 32 years might be just about enough that it wasn't still a sore point. Maybe there is no statute of limitations on bad taste.

None taken, thanks anyway. Is it really 32 years? Blimey. I was a big fan back in the day and I do remember being really upset at the news.

Hate to tell you but I've seen the original band perform live, have you ? And stupid remarks about Rednecks are ridiculous. Not every Southerner is a racist, most aren't but of course the PC Brigade on here know better than people who have lived there.

I must be just a little younger, I don't recall the crash, but I do have a couple of albums. Freebird will live long in tjhe memory, mainly, it must be said, due to a local band who had a terrific guitarist (called Rod Cameron), and did a great version of Freebird whenever they played gigs.

I got banned for wishing cancer on people - is that not the same as wishing we all die in a plane crash?!

Funnily enough, I came home in the car listening to the Doobie Brothers, and I am now running through Youtube picking up the Doobies, Kansas, etc...!

As someone who has lived happily in the South for 5 years I find the Northern transplants more racist than the Southerners I know. Actually I have far more time for Southern people than Northerners. Find them to be hospitable , kind and welcoming. Anyone know the origins of "Sweet Home Alabama"? As far as I know (and I stand to be corrected) Lynyrd Skynyrd are from J-Ville.

I reckon it was a song in praise of the south as a protest against Neil
Young's song Southern Man ,witch Skynard perceived to be offensive to
the southern states
