The Tories want to punish the BBC for what they perceive as left wing bias. Don't be too surprised if TV and radio channels in the BBC portfolio get axed plus further privatisation though the back door happens (BBC Worldwide etc). The end of the TV licence is in sight too with potential options of subscription based channels or a household communications levy.

During the election it wasn't so much perceived as blatant. Whilst that may be acceptable for privately own news corporations it isn't for the publicly funded BBC.

Although there are a few "BBC lifers" on that list there are also plenty of others that have made their fortune without any help from the BBC, i.e. JK Rowling.

I totally agree with the luvvies. You cannot cut deeper without changing the nature of the BBC service, i.e. a reduction in quality and range of programming or a forced commercialisation that would then call into question the impartiality of the output.

If push came to shove and something had to go then it should be the sport.

The Tory propaganda machine certainly went into mass overdrive and whipped up hysteria over an Ed Milibland and Nicola Krankie coalition. Only the BBC and The Mirror stood up to the onslaught.

What sport?

Wimbledon, Formula One, Six Nations spring to mind. They do it well but then so do other broadcasters. Whereas, BBC are streets ahead on stuff like documentaries, current affairs, period drama, kids programmes.

They can make whatever programme's and employ whoever they like.
I just object to having to PAY for it....

I presume you believe that the BBC should be turned into a commercial business similar to ITV and SKY?

Who would then own the BBC and what would be the implications for broadcasting and media in the UK?
