Hi, As it has been a while since we experienced the unique surroundings of Kenilworth Road, I thought some might like to share memories.

My first , and so far only, trip there was my first ever awayday in August/September 1982. We got gubbed 5-0 by the newly promoted Hatters, Walsh and Stein ran us ragged. I think that they had the plastic pitch at this point, but am not sure. Every other time we have played them there, I have not been able to go, and that pattern continues tonight, sadly.

I remember that they had a Tory MP (David Evans?) as chairman in the 80s who fervently instigated the home fans only membership scheme as he bum licked Thatcher, but seem to recall Luton Fans used to sign up away fans to get them in as guests?

Anyone else care to share?

Never seen us win there or possibly even score. Last time I went we got well and truly stuffed, it was freezing snow on the ground and couldn’t wait to get out of the shit hole.

That was a thoroughly rotten evening. I made a late decision to go though there was no guarantee of getting a train home because of the weather. I nearly left when I heard the team read out. Loads of players rested for the following home game, which we lost.

I was at that game too, miserable outcome,.... not helped by the fact we got ambushed in a pub by the station ( Plume of Feathers??)... 20 or 30 of us having a quiet few pints pre match... in comes some big geezers, one with a baseball bat, off it goes, my brother got his head cut open by that 'batsman'... all part of the deal in those days.

I was at that game too, miserable outcome,.... not helped by the fact we got ambushed in a pub by the station ( Plume of Feathers??)... 20 or 30 of us having a quiet few pints pre match... in comes some big geezers, one with a baseball bat, off it goes, my brother got his head cut open by that 'batsman'... all part of the deal in those days.

A 4-1 fa cup win under the lights at the Goldstone, they were in division 1 (we were in div 2). Danny Wilson was their captain.

We chanted "Danny, what's the score" and he gave us a big smile and stuck up four fingers (on the same hand I might add).

We were great that night.

The one that stands out for me is the Feb '04 game where that cheating prick of a Ref, Trevor Parkes, waved away a penalty appeal for Luton with about 15 mins to go and then for some inexplicable reason he blew the whistle and pointed to the spot. The only time I've ever lost my temper at a footy match. All I remember for the rest of the match was that he wouldn't come within 30 yards of the away end, as each time he did there was surge of noise from the fans.

Didn’t we have someone sent off and hung on for penalties? Certainly remember the pitch invasion at the end by their low life’s.

1970, end of February with both teams pushing for promotion from the old 3rd division. We had gone top a few days before. 1-1. We'd travelled by coach so straight to the ground which meant we missed a lot of trouble in downtown Luton.

Not an Albion game, but I was there (with a Luton-supporting mate) for the infamous cup tie against Millwall, when the Millwall fans ran riot on the pitch.

It was the only time I've really been scared for my safety at a football match.

We were rubbish

unfortunately it's the game where a few of our fans were chanting "small town in Delhi" or something.

I remember not being able to physically sit down as the rows were too narrow

I was at both the 5-0 drubbing in 82 and the epic 1-1 in 79 as the promotion push crescendoed. In the latter, Maybank ran the length of the pitch to celebrate with us and we had the whole end behind the goal, it felt like a huge goal at the time when it was still only 2 points for a win so draws were relatively more important. Seagull Special train for me (I was only 15) with blinds down on the return to minimise the impact of potentially bricked windows.
