There's a certain darkness about it. It's probably intentional, what with it being about murders, and a lot of it is filmed at night, or in churches, or the gloomy police station.

I'm trying to think what it reminds me of. It was something made to give the feel of the fifties, slightly other-worldly.

'The' Yaztromo
It reminds me of Life on Mars.. it’s pretty ridiculous, but in a brilliant way… no time travel/afterlife/purgatory but it has an offbeat element that LOM had in spades…

Think I might dig out LOM and watch it again, for the awesome soundtrack if nothing else, oh and Gene Hunt obviously.

Not sure how anyone can dislike Mitchell… he’s brilliant at what he does…

Finally got round to watching this. Utterly preposterous plot with more holes in it than a cheese grater. You have to ‘go with it’ and accept it on its own terms or you’ll end up shouting at the TV about one about one ludicrous twist after another.
