Because 4-4-2 with two proper strikers WORKS?

As i said nothing, he has been excellent for these 2 games.

Dosent mean we wouldnt or shouldnt make the change though.
I;m sorry to labour the point Marshy. But WHY ?
He has played exceptionally well, has struck up an immediate understanding with Gerrard, and has forged a highly effective central midfield partnership that has (finally) given the team a balanced look about it.

What would the team gain by changing that in favour of bringing in Hargreaves ?
As TLO said, if it ain;t broke...

The best England team will not be made up of the best eleven players in the country. It will consist of the best eleven players that compliment each other and play together as a team. The eleven that played Sat and last night were the best we have seen for a while.

Brave decisions to be made, but I don't think any player has an automatic right to a place in the team. To take things to an extreme, back in the 70s we had two world class goalies in Clemence and Shilton. We didn't play Clemence in goal and Shilton at right back so as not to upset one of them.

The only time we've ever won anything was when Ramsey was brave enough to sacrifice Greaves for the sake of the team.

I was only 6 then but cried and cried because Jimmy was dropped, couldn't believe that the best player and goal scorer had no place in the team and that Ramsey preferred that carthorse Hurst, (probably some of my dads words there...). I wonder again now if I/my dad were wrong!!! Carthorses may be the way to go...

Putting THREE past a team that conceded ONE in ALL their previous matches makes Russia muppets? ???

Compared to anyone we're gonna face in the semi or final of a major tournament, yes they are kermit, gonzo and fozzie bear (et al).

Which is exactly what we've looked like against some of these Countries WITH a team full of big name players that have proved time and time again they can't gel and work as a TEAM.
