Just spoken with my contact for update

The word coming through at the moment is that KLL will be staying with Newcastle for the foreseeable future ,......unless we make an offer at some point towards the end of the year latest it looks like we may have seen the last of him.

I will try and bring some positive news at some point - honest !

I'm taking that as positive too - he's out for 10 weeks, so we know he won't be back in the blue & white stripes before he's mended, but this is the first time they've apparently seemed open to offers.... Although whether we'd make an offer during the January window on an injured Kaz, I'm not so sure. I think Gus may just move on.

Shame if true. A couple of things occur to me. Firstly that if it is the case that KLL wont be back unless we buy him it may be the reason Gus has been so determined to secure a replacement so quickly. The other thing is if Newcastle want him to go on loan to get games to recover we will be first in the que. Thirdly and finally IF it is indeed a sign they may be willing to sell TB has said there is money to spend so you never know. Cant wait to see who Gus gets in though.

Ten weeks would see us at the last week of the window, so would be worth someone to monitor his recovery.

Was thinking exactly the same myself, the timing could be right (end of Jan 11) but my contacts have gone a little quiet about this at the moment. I'll keep digging though !!

We're not the only people who will be monitoring him. He's done a great job for us (although not as pivotal as some of the press would think) and we've been useful as a shop window for him.

I'd be very surprised if we sign him and even if he came back to us on loan in the New Year.

One big factor might be our position in the League. If we're still top or somewhere close then TB might think it's worth splashing some cash to sustain the push. However, if our inevitable bad run (for there will be one - or we may have just had it!!) affects us very badly, that could influence how Gus and TB view the January window - which they both say they don't really like.

So many variables!

Is his pace likely to be affected by this injury?

In this medical day and age - unless the docs paint a bleak picture, I'd say try and buy whenever they'll take an acceptable offer.

I hope by January, Newcastle are doing well in the Prem, so they will be less likely to be looking back at players who don't quite make the first team squad there.

Argus today quotes a Newcastle source saying that when he has recovered they will be happy for him to return to Brighton :albion1:

Gus is looking for a loan player with a permanent deal to be completed in January. Premiership and Championship players are on his list. :)

I've not heard this anywhere, but I could have missed it.

Has there been any confirmation that it's a clean break and that he's not suffered ligament damage?

Gritt23 - I understood it was a chipped bone, not a break if you see what I mean.

Oh well that's cheered me up a bit anyway. Shouldn't be any dangers of complications with that.

Ta.

Whilst I admit this is very bad news, I’m pretty sure Gus will provide us with some unknown foreign beast of a winger and that in a months time people will be saying lua lua who?

Lua Lua is a very talented player at this level but he has limitations and weaknesses in his game. We are top of the league with one of the best young managers in the land, we’ll have no problems attracting a replacement on loan.
