I sort of understand what you mean, there is a bit of a clique when it comes to songs.

I've always liked the Saint Pauli song for getting everyone to join in, but it is hated on here because Palace sing it, even though it's not their song, and even though every other club sings it.

Well that escalated quickly...

For what it's worth, I've been to a fair amount of home and away games in the last 2 years and I've never heard that until today. The people responsible for the chant do come out with a fair amount of tripe and some of the people who are accused on here of not starting songs actually do try but it's ignored because they are one of the selected few.

Anyway, I liked the Lua Lua song today, well done to all concerned.

Does nobody ever watch any football outside the Albion? I can't believe people say this chant is too complicated for people to learn, pretty much every other club uses this song for a player with slightly different words. If 40,000 Scousers can learn it, then 20,000 Brighton fans should be able to. It's not particularly good, but then nor are 90% of football chants.

It says something about our support if a four line song that every other club in the country can remember is too complicated for us to learn.

Not really. Pretty basic stuff. The lyrics don't really matter anyway, how many football songs have great lyrics? 'He's got stubble, like Barney Rubble'? Genius.

It's all about people joining in. I've been a massive critic of the police box lot with the drivel that they come out with and their seemingly divisive nature, but there's nothing wrong with this song, it's no better or worse than the Oscar Garcia or Ulloa ones. And it would sound great if everyone sang it, just like in that video.

Lyrics don't matter anyway? I think you're mistaken, otherwise why else wouldn't it have caught on, when as you say, the tune is sung by most other clubs? And if that's the case, why hasn't half the drivel sung under the policebox caught on (Viva Orlandi anyone?)

I suppose it could well be because there's already a catchier LuaLua chant that people do sing? If you're that keen to have this tune busting out at The Amex then maybe pick one of the 20 odd players without a song or chant? Just a thought.

Anyway, I'm off to bed, a firm believer that the only way of judging stuff sung on the terrace is whether it catches on or not. If it does, fantastic. If not, it's all a bit pointless really.
