Poyet said we're close one day and then even further away another day. I think we should sign Monkhouse and then if we do get Lua Lua then we should bring him on as an impact sub.

Baz should start upfront tonight !

I would rather we went after Andy Monkhouse or better still see what the 2 Argies can do.

I can't believe anyone would be anything other than desperate for us to sign him. He's the most exciting player we've had in years.

Who Monkhouse or all I can do is run Lua Lua.

LuaLua.

Monkhouse hasn't played for us before has he? Anyway he's just a typical League One plodder. He's decent but has no pace, which is what we need, especially in a 4-5-1 system.

Personally I like Lua Lua's burst of speed and thaty excited me but then like a damp squib it all went flat. In most cases he either fell over or over ran the ball and it went out of play so I am not particularly worried if we dont sign him. I am more interested in what the 2 Argies can give judging by the reports of their performances so far. Apparently the one who plays on the left has a a good left foot and speed.

I would love to have Lua Lua back here, I know he is no where near the finished article (yet) and still has a lot to learn and work on but even despite this, he is still an exciting player to watch and would add something to our side.

However i am being realistic in thinking it is unlikely he will return, Lua Lua wants to try to get a place at Newcastle this season and he and his manager there will probably wait til the last minute before determining whether he has done enough to put himself in the reckoning.

We could wait and hope that their joint decision is that going out on loan again is the best move for both parties but there is no guarentees that a) he will go out on loan and b) he will join us if he does - especially if higher league clubs with better facilities are after him.

I guess Poyet would love to get him back here again but he has to consider the risk of waiting (and that we may still miss out) when we need to secure someone for that position sooner rather than later. the longer we leave it, the less alternative options there will be as other clubs sign up our other possible targets. - its down to how much of a gamble Poyet is willing to take, waiting as long as possible in the hope it pays off.

I think Lua Lua is one of those players (a bit like Joe Cole this season where England were concerned) that will get better the longer it is since he played for us.

He was HILARIOUSLY quick and put in a peach of a cross for that Barnes header.

But his delivery was also infuriatingly inconsistent.

Don't get me wrong - I would welcome him back.

Just he wasn't the star some people are remembering.

What you say may be true for some people, remembering him with rose-tinted glasses.

For me, however, this is not the case. I was honestly as excited when he was playing for us as I am about the prospect of him re-signing.

If he had a perfect end product he would be playing in the Premier League, no question. With League One wingers you either get the end product with no pace, or brilliant pace with an inconsistent final ball. Only one of those attributes you can really improve so I know which I would rather have in my team. Aaron Lennon was in a similar situation to LuaLua five years ago and look at him now.

You are really under estimating Lua Lua and his influence on the side last season. Agreed the end product could be improved on but if that was a touch better he would be in Newcastles side.

Its vital we get someone like Lua Lua in, if not him that Townsend from Spurs.

If we dont get him you will see how badly he is missed, espcially away from home.

His delivery obviously needs plenty of work but at League One level it's the pace he has that defenders don't like. His pace often pulls defenders away leaving space open for others which is the real benefit of having him in the side at present.

If his crossing and passing could be improved he would obviously have more to offer but would ultimately attract much higher clubs than us.

If we could sign him on loan again brilliant, if we can't it isn't the end of the world, although another player in that position along with a first choice striker remain high priorities.
