Global, do you think you'll be able to file for administration (as a club, not the umbrella company), or do you think it's too late?

Sent by the power of squirrel poo

I fear that is what the administators will try and do. I don't think it it the appropriate action that should be taken and will and should be turned down. Can only see us being liquidated tbh. Not sure how we would be able to trade if we did enter admin.

Exactly...haven't been spending any money because we don't have any! of course paying our bills should be priority if we had the money to pay them. I was just replying to a post that stated we were still spending money which of course we are not.

sorry but that is just not true - both Lawrence and Kitson were signed on quite extraordinary contracts AFTER you came out of administration on terms which were clearly in excess of anything encompassed by the CVA and the failure to sell three players IN JANUARY 2012 which would have paid the outstanding tax bill is just another example of a club that continues to act irresponsibly. There has not been a single protest at any of these actions by the fans.

The silent majority may care but they remain silent

I was talking about now. Yes we all agree we shouldn't have signed those players over 18 months ago. Obviously not getting our message across and that needs to addressed..agree about that.

PFC is still paying out a crapload in wages, that is spending money. The fans should be putting genuine pressure on the club to release these players. Where are the fans talking to the media and trying to get this done?

Well we aren't even paying the wages at the moment...

When was the period that Pompey had the England forward line. On gates of 24K. There has been a madness to the finances ever since. There have been different owners but no real attempt to address the problem of wages being unsustainable. The only protest I can recall was the "Where's the Money Gone?" which was about the Cup Final money. The rest of the world knew where it had gone. What was learnt from Administration ? We need to stay in the division. Sorry creditors - we "need" these new players on £20K a week each. All the Premiership money pissed up against the wall - no investment in the stadium. All the while other clubs trying to do it right were getting relegated - in place of what we now recognise as financial cheats.

Hard on the sensible supporters of course. But where has their voice been ?

It is difficult to have sympathy for their plight even though it is a historic old club. But they have been cheating - and it still goes on.

Didn't Darlington make everyone redundant to stop the wage bill? Maybe Pompey could do that or is it too late?

And Man City, QPR, Chelsea are sustainable through their gate receipts/revenue? Don't worry we soon cease to exist then you don't have to be symphatic.

and you should have moved heaven and earth to sell the players who you had offers on that could have setled the HMRC debt TWO WEEKS (not 18 months) AGO

and you should be actively seeking to loan players out RIGHT NOW and instead of "they have to let us sign new players - they can't make us play with a squad of just 12 or 13" you should be promoting academy players who after all you paid a small fortune to sign.

Portsmouth fans seem loathe to allow any mention of the simple remedies available and the irresponsible actions which continue on a day to day basis.

If the mismanagement of the club is frightening, the continuing acquiescence of the fans is massively disappointing

I've posted it before and I will do again, probably, but I find all the "you've got what you deserved" from Albion fans towards Pompey fans as more than a little distasteful. But for the grace of god and all that.

The comments like "you kept spending" and "the club hasn't learned" are mis-directed. There has been a revolving door at Pompey and the long-suffering fans have been incredibly unlucky in that every time someone comes in through that door they've turned out to be miscreants seemingly with one aim: to try and turn a profit out of the club. The only continuity in that club has been the fans and they are largely powerless to stop what has happened. At each and every turn, the club has been on the brink before being rescued. The best the fans could do is cross their fingers and hope the incomers were well-intentioned. Unfortunately for them that hasn't been the case.

By all means direct your wrath at the bad guys who have sought to use Pompey as some sort of cash cow before hurriedly exiting stage left leaving the club in a worse mess than ever before, but comments like "the club deserves it" are wrong. Those who inflicted the damage are long-gone, leaving behind the good guys, people like us who just want to go and watch some football. They don't deserve this.

For me when Pompey were deep in the shit financially and you had Cotterill BLEATING about signing Kitson on £20k a week as thats all he could afford.

ONLY £20k a week.

Therefore they need to be hurled to the bottom of the pyramid and start over like Aldershot/AFC Wimbledon. A phoenix club will form, they will still have a TEAM to support.

Not really. Are you suggesting all of our protests/marches etc had no effect on the outcome? The issue people have is that Pompey fans seem not to give a solitary shit. If they did, they'd be outside Fratton Park right now.

The only thing Pompey fans care about is whether or not they can shout their mouths off about getting back into the Prem were they think they belong. Whether they actually continue to exist in any division doesnt seem to come into their thinking.

I agree with your "there but for the grace of god........." but "those who inflicted the damage are long gone...........?" You are wrong.

The club could have sold players in the last two weeks and put the money towards resolving their issues with HMRC. It might have been short term but it was an opportunity wilfully ignored.
The club could - yesterday/today/tomorrow - loan players out and reduce its running costs to a level that is more sustainable. It might be a token measure but that token would regain public support. They have declined to even consider the option.
The club could promote academy players to its first team squad even within the current overall salary cap but decline to do so. Could that possibly be in case it highlighted their deliberate manipulation of the terms of the CVA to funnel available funds into the administration?
The club could have prioritised payments due to HMRC after their last close encounter but the administrator chose to take his short term responsibility to optimise cash for the owners who appointed him with cynical disregard for the club, its fans, the football authorities, or the public purse.

They demonstrably continue to court disaster and the wholesale financial mismanagement continues every day. Far from being long gone there remain those who inflict substantial damage right now day in, day out. That is why, for the sake of the wider football family, this time the Revenue have to succeed.

And yes, I feel for the fans. But sympathy doesn't absolve the club/its management/its owners. Sorry.

Who does every single one of "the club" and "they" in the above relate to? It's the administrator isn't it, not the fans...

But the administrators are now "The Club" as they are running its affairs. The fans are not doing anything to be heard by the media, and if they are there must be a Media blackout on it and I doubt that would happen with Freddy at Meridian.

At least some fans have the right idea about starting again, when asked by a reporter where they would start again from one actually said "Dunno, League 2?"

As a Pompey fan I find it incredible that many of you think we willingly alllowed this to happen to our club. Maybe we didn't question it when we were 1st in the Prem and subsequently won the FA cup....but what fans would at that time? Do you seriously think Man City, QPR and Chelsea are 'questioning' whether they can afford it while actually living above their means?

A fair point but I would direct you to Man Utd fans who have being, and continue, to question how their club is run and it's finances ( and yes, it depresses me to hold up some Man Utd fans as a beacon of fan resistance ! ).
