It happens with plenty of players that you hate them in opposing teams, but would LOVE them if they were actually at your club. Mostly with vicious hard-tackling enforcers, but Robbie Savage has made a career of it. Once the opposing fans get wound up by your man, that makes you support them all the more.

Could this begin to happen with Wise?

As much as I hate the idea of having Dennis Wise in charge (and I really do) there is a doubt in my mind. If I'm at a game where the opposition fans are dishing it out to Wise, I can't see myself failing to rise to the challenge whereby I try to out-shout them in my support for our man. That's just what you do isn't it.

There are exceptions to every rule.

David Bellotti was OUR Chief Executive etc. etc.

Not quite the same though, as no-one else was really laying into them, unless they took their cue from us.

I just think you automatically jump to the defence of your own, especially if their very presence is winding up the opposition.

Fair point.

With what you're initially saying, Nicky Forster is a case in point who springs to mind (and there are times when I still get irked about his 'diving'). However, I just can't place him in the same bracket as Wise.

I used to dislike Forster, immensely. One of those players that wind you up intentionally or otherwise. Wouldn't trade him for a million nowadays.

Forsters done very well for us and I'd be sad to see him go.
But I think if we were offered a million, we really should seriously think about taking it.

I don't think he said a million POUNDS, in fact he didn't say what times by a million he would be turning down.

True, I just assumed he was referring to currency. What else could it be.

A million lovesongs ?

As Mr Gritt23 prundently pointed out, I did not specify what the 'million' entailed. I was thinking more along the lines of love songs.

Edit: Great minds. I didn't see your new post!

I do like the way he runs in front of the free kick to 'mark out his ten yards' to slow things down.

I like the way he runs along wagging his finger when he scores.
