spanish they are untreatable mate, no amount of counselling or sessions with a shrink would stop me fancying the arse off the bird on the soccerette thread, and no amount of counselling will stop them being attracted to kids ,therefore i believe that life with no possibility of parole is the only sentence for paedophiles.

Too true. I roll my eyes whenever I hear about the latest psychiatrist who claims he can cure paedophilia.

As far as I'm aware, the same thing was said about homosexuality* back in the fifties and sixties, that it can be cured with some sessions on the couch etc.


*I want to make several things clear:

- While I believe paedophilia is a form of sexual preference, Paedophilia does not = homosexuality, I am not saying this, I am not implying this.
- I am not saying we will, or we should, in 50 years time be arguing for paedosexual marriage rights or that paedophilia will be accepted in society.
- I do not mean to legitimise paedophilia by the association, I mean to point to history to show the silly mistakes some pschiatrist are making again, the same presumption society makes "it's sick" "it can be cured". You can't change someone's sexuality, you can't 'cure' their sexuality.

So, we have to look at other ways to deal with the issue.

True, but he lives in a hospital where everyone is like that. Where he is/his behaviour is the norm. You would say "I'm a brighton fan" a lot more easily here, than you would in a back alley with a bunch of Palace fans holding weapons, wouldn't you? (I know, we're all proud albion fans, but most of us are also smart too).
