What do you mean when you say "lost functionality"?

What happens if you just paste a URL into a post for example?

I've not made any changes to broad site functionality, nor to your specific account.

I’ve tested the inbuilt gif facility and copied a link from GIPHY

The bar above my free text field (Bold, Italics, Gifs, links, back etc) is grayed out and not functional for me?

It's self-inflicted then, albeit unintentional, I'm sure.

In the reply box, towards the far right there are two square brackets: [ ] - click/tap those and you'll be back to full functionality again.
