From his resignation letter;;

“It has been a huge honour and privilege to work with you over the last five years, first in the Foreign Office and then in No.10. You have been an outstanding leader at a moment of grave constitutional crisis for this country. Many said that it would be impossible to deliver what we did: an end to political turbulence by implementing the referendum result, a stunning election victory, an exit from the EU which gave us full freedom about our future choices as a country, and finally putting in place the world's broadest and indeed only zero-tariff free trade deal. You and I have always shared the same approach on Brexit and I do not think we would have achieved so much without that close common understanding of our aims.”

I’m sorrry? What? [emoji38]ol:[emoji38]ol:

Resignation letters should be polite but I’ve never seen one contain so many outright lies before
The guy is obviously either pumped full of drugs or has a " Bullshit Bingo " bet with some pals.

Wasn't that when he was CEO of some whisky body that he said leaving the Single Market would entail significant risks (or something similar) ?

It goes to demonstrate the abject lack of integrity and moral fibre these perjerous ********s possess.

We don't need a "next".

Brexit got DONE.

No reason to have a Minister for it anymore.

My favourite story from all that renaming of DExEU departments and everything after 'Brexit got DONE' on 31st Jan 2020 was when they removed all mention of Brexit from the Government websites that gave information as to the new rules and regulations on trading with the EU.

Within hours, complaints were pouring in from businesses that they couldn't find any of the information and the Brexit references had to be put back in pronto,

Unsurprisingly, but sadly and expensively true story

I am very confused by the zero tariff free trade deal. Any product ordered from the UK for delivery to Portugal is now held up by Portuguese customs until huge customs duties are paid. This has been going on since January. Even Christmas presents, for example, are generally intercepted and import duties up to more than 100% of the stated value are demanded. Failure to pay often results in the goods being returned to sender. It is for this reason that M&S and others have set up distribution warehouses in the EU along with EU internal websites. This behaviour by the Portuguese is pretty much how they behave towards all the non-EU countries that DON'T have a zero tariff trade agreement.
There are many, many instances this year of UK people driving off the ferry at Santander, getting pulled over by Spanish customs and receiving an on-the-spot demand for up to 150 euros to bring their private possessions into the EU. So, what is this zero tariff agreement?

If you're confused and you seem to have a very good understanding of what is going on, just think what it must be like for Johnson :lolol:

You don't think that Frost resigning has anything to do with the raft of new export regulations to further hamper British Exporters coming in in just under 2 weeks time ? Probably just coincidence ???

Ii wasn't aware of this but it seems quite possible. In my experience, and this is mirrored by many non-EU citizens who are resident in the EU. the EU bureaucrats do not really want to trade with anyone outside the EU. They would prefer to stop as much international trade as they can and trade exclusively within the 27. This "policy" is taken by Portuguese and Spanish customs (and probably others) as an opportunity to extract as much duty as they can get from anyone importing items from the rest of the world. 26 euros duty demanded for a tea towel valued at 1 euro sent from Australia is one notable example.

Edit this has been their standard behaviour for years with non-EU countries. Now they have the opportunity to add the UK to the list and, an added bonus, punish them for leaving the EU at the same time.

I do wish you lot would stop these infernal conspiracy theories.

For instance, there is another preposterous coincidence going round, that Frost actually resigned a while ago, but the bad news was kept out of the media until the Tories had won the Owen Paterson Lobbygate by-election.

This was also - obviously - a coincidence. For it not to be a coincidence, the following would have had to have happened. They:

1) thought they would get away with lobbying against the rules.
2) initially - and unwisely - defended Paterson.
3) tried to retrospectively get the lobbying rules changed, to keep him in his job and avoid a potentially damaging by-election.
4) covered up the bad news of Frost's resignation.
5) thought that covering up Frost's resignation was the right thing to do.

It all goes way beyond the realms of possibility. Far more likely is that it was indeed, a coincidence.

Bit isn't this the biggest single reason for any trading union or bloc around the world. Reward the members for trading within the bloc as this is in all their interests, punish non members, and use your size to get better deals from non members. Why else would you form one

And surely if that’s what they do it’s best to be part of it!

He did resign a while ago. He says so in his resignation letter. He says he is bringing the agreed date forward as it has been unexpectedly made public.

They have signed, supposedly, a zero tariff trade agreement with the UK, which, allegedly, makes it easier for the EU to continue selling into the UK and, in exchange, makes it easier for the UK to sell into the EU. The experience this year is that there is no zero tariff agreement, or the EU is ignoring it, and they are slapping massive tariffs on UK imports. Certainly they would use their size to get better deals but they appear to be ignoring the agreement supposedly signed.

Indeed. I wonder if we can expect a festive witch hunt to root out the whistleblower?

To be consistent, after the civil servant investigating 'partygate' was at one himself, I think they should appoint a witchfinder general, who is then exposed to having previously been a witch.
