Excellent - so the headline says "Buses" yet we're shown a video of one bus. Sky News :ffsparr:

8.7% raise of tube use in London this morning. So hardly PACKED AND CRAMMED. So bored of the vast majority of the press now.

Twats. Irresponsible twats.

Disappointed the OP wasn't showing a mass PELETON of middle aged men on folding Bromptons wearing "look at me" hi viz bike clips.

...addresses an insular cadre of socially challenged, prematurely middle-aged, pseudo-intellectual men. :clap2:

(perhaps a NSFW tag would have been appropriate... although not for many of us at the moment!)

What do you expect in London though? Most people do use public transport to get about and many do not have cars - and it would be impractical for more people to have cars than do already - and there's nowhere to park, etc. etc.

Well, quite. You can't spend years putting in low emission zones, ridiculous parking restrictions and allowing access to shared bicycles and then expect people to go back to work forthwith in their cars. Oh, hang on, you can if you're the former mayor of London

This, and the fact that buses and tubes are still running a reduced service.

For balance, five London bus drivers have died of the virus due to being exposed to it at work.

Further stats have come through.

London Tube use up 7.3%

Transport for London says that as of 10:00 BST today, tube ridership was about 7.3% higher than the same time last Wednesday.
That equates to about 5,700 extra journeys. In total, there were 83,293 journeys.
However, it is still a fraction of normal ridership. On the same day last year there had been nearly 1.2 million journeys by 10:00.

So, still massively down on usual numbers.

Why do you think that bus is different from many others ? I don't want to even see one.

There is definitely going to a be a problem with reduced services. Some buses / tubes will be empty, others will be rammed. Unless you somehow work out how to stagger working hours.

The government needs to take a bit more leadership than suggest it's something for employees to work out with employers.

I know some offices that are going to have to reduce their capacity by 90% to ensure social distancing. Then the penny drops, what is the point if the people coming into work weren't able to do that on the tube.

London does need to be treated on it's own due to the reliance on public transport. That's before they try and work out how to deal with commuters from out of London coming back and forth every day.

Tube this week, lovely looks like a Sunday - but social distancing just not possible.

If the tube becomes a hot bed for re-infection, we will probably see a full on strike by Underground staff.

Many people are simply ignoring the mask advice ( from the Mayor of London ) as well.

So what if you need to go to work to earn money to pay the bills and eat but you don't have a clean mask?

I always said this would come down to a choice between more virus spread and widespread poverty. Let's not have both.
