All services running on Xmas day in Germany.

Someone recently asked me in Berlin why London transport doesnt run all night at the weekend. The were puzzled and suggested this was 'silly'.

berlin underground system is very good but the stations are virtually un-manned so it doesn't cost them anything to keep it open, especially as you go through no barriers. as a manchester resident now you appreciate really how good londons transport infrastructure is - nightbusses being a big part of that - in manchester loads of people drive to work. the metrolink up here is nearly on par with london for monthly tickets aswell yet the service is not as pleasent (!). the germans do things better generally though - accross the board in terms of civil development i think.
