How long it takes always depends on how many times we stop for snouts and drinks, 1 year I'd like to do it as fast as possible just to see what time I could do it in !!!

Of course, you youngsters have it easy these days, starting in south London and all. Some of us can remember setting off from Hyde Park Corner in the dim and distant past...

Can I recommend a brace of jelly saddles and some very gay-looking padded cycle shorts. You won't regret those.

Best if you can sign up via a gung-ho corporate employers. They tend to lay on lorries to take care of the bikes, give you a freebie tee-shirt, and have a top-of-the-range picnic waiting for you on Brighton Beach.

Oh, and never stop for a beer en route. It makes the difference between getting to BN1 after five hours or after eight or nine hours. Just say no, kidz :nono:

Grand day out tho. Every able-bodied person should beg, steal or borrow a bike and try it at least once.

Did it this year, and to be honest, apart from the Beacon which is a complete bitch coming as it does at the end of the journey, the route is pretty easy with lots of downhills :)

Problem is, is that it has become a victim of its own success and its too damn busy. Unless you leave very early (before 7.00) you get hit in massive bottle necks (Turners Hill was a joke)

Also the last two miles, from Lewes Road gyratory (sp?) to the sea front is a shambles, badly organised and cars and stops everywhere

But do it, great fun and if you train (a little) not knackering at all

done it two years ago for the first time and conquered the Beacon! My ARSE was alright the next day, the main area of HURT was the shoulder blades.
Great fun though, i'd certainly do it again although my bike wont last 2miles!
