I shall be. I'm easily recognisable as it has Gwylan on the back (or rather, it has Wylan as the shirt has done a soft mutation of its own and dropped the G)

Last time it took me 25 mins to get from one side to the other!!

Oh and good luck!

Despite only having one fully-functioning lung, I've made it a resolution that I WILL do this next year.

Anyone know when they start accepting applications for 2010? I looked on the BHF website but couldn't see anything.

Beautiful Sandtex 'Inter Milan' BHA shirt sighted on one rider, only slightly spoilt by a Palace top speeding by not long after.

too many riders for me, i got the arsehole on 'that' hill. 45 minutes to do about 1/2 a mile and them church bells ringing in me ears. wore the stripes until Turners Hill didn't see any others though. overall enjoyed myself but probably won't do it again.

oh yeah and another thing, why do riders request a 6am start (I wanted one and all I could get was 8am) and then stroll through the gates at 8.15?

Happily completed the ride today. The first few hours were a tad frustrating to say the least especially not moving for almost hlaf an hour stuck on Nutfield Hill. After that though it was clear and fast other than the beacon obviously.

Nutfield hill was really frustrating. Managed to do a few crossword clues in the 45-minutes, but that wasn't really part of the plan. There were far too many delays at the start; 30 minutes after leaving, I was still in Tooting - just 2 miles down the road.

I saw one other set of stripes - some guy cycling up Nightingale Lane on the way to the start about 8.00. It was good to hear the "Seagulls" cheers on the route though.

I agree about the 6.00 starters though. I requested one and got a 7.30 and I had loads of 6.00 and 6.30 people around me.

Still, I'm glad I did it - it was good meeting Brett en route - and thanks to all my sponsors.

Woke up after a couple of cramp attacks in the night, did the beacon for the first time ever

How lane was annoying, a couple of places where you literally could not ride, How Lane, and one of the check points which was halfway down a downhill road. It took an hour and a half to do the first 4 miles due to congestion of the 6, 6.30 and 7 all starting pretty much the same time after a fire in the area.

Hog roast baps at The White Hart, West Hoathly were IMMENSE, bumped into a couple of Brighton shirts and Gwylan along the way, also John Torodes too.

Thanks for that pic Ed,

oh and here is a photo of our hole at Falmer from the top of Ditchling Beacon

The missus finished it and apparently went all the way up the beacon still pedalling (she was a 7am starter and started at seven). She also agreed to wear the stripes all the way in return for £50 sponsorship although she didnt realise the relevance of wearing them through south london. Well done to all though!
