I was held up by 50 minutes this morning

Oh - thanks for this post. I only travelled up yesterday as a one-dayer so I only had a (bargain £55) one day ticket. I didn't know I could 'delay repay' only ever having done it with when I've had weekly season tickets. The 5:40 London Bridge train was delayed by over half an hour coming home so I need to find my tickets in the recycling box now to make my claim!
If you've still got the tickets, and they haven't been stamped, just claim you didn't travel and claim the lot back.
Allegedly that works
Only if you want to be nicked, if it has gone through a gate line barrier it is marked and then when you claim you get invited to an interview under caution and prosecution may follow
and if it hasn't gone through a gate line barrier? (just asking)
Depends but very few tickets are refunded after the time, i.e. if you have had the chance to do the journey, most refund applications like that are thrown straight into the bin

what would you have to do to avoid being one of the 'most'? (just asking)
Have proof that you didn't make the journey

Would the train being cancelled be good enough?
I feel sorry for everyone trying to get to the match, it's not good enough and time someone stepped in and told Southern to sort itself out
I rarely use the train myself, but I know people who do it. Surprised they're marked
