Right, slate me if you like, I don't care, but I just had to say it somewhere, so here goes:
If I could I'd shake the hand and say a massive thank you to each & every person who's contributed to making our Olympics simply amazing!
I've felt like I've been walking on air these past 2 weeks or so and my heart has been swollen with pride.
For me, I've always loved The Olympics anyway, but was especially looking forward to this one. Aside from watching hour upon hour of brilliant Olympic coverage on the BBC (one of our finest institutions), I took my kids up to the men's cycling road race on the first Saturday where we watched the riders roll out from Constitution Hill and then joined the crowds in Hyde Park to see the rest of the race on the big screen. On the Wednesday after that we joined the massive crowds lining the streets near Hampton Court Palace to watch the Women's and Men's Cycling Individual Time Trials. The Sunday after that we watched Women's Handball in the Copperbox at The Olympic Park.
Each and every day out mentioned above provided magical memories that will stay with me, and hopefully my kids too, for a lifetime. If it was possible to organise a better Olympic Games, then I'm sorry, I refuse to believe it. The volunteers especially have been a massive credit to us. The Sport has been superb, and GB sporting success beyond all expectation has just been the icing on that cake.
On leaving The Olympic Park it all got too much for me, and the old bottom lip trembled and I welled up as I explained to my kids just how proud all this going on around us made me feel. The pride I felt for my country and all those in it who had done their bit was immense.
I believe a nation has certainly been moved. I hope a generation truly has been inspired and that kids everywhere will have a long and happy sporting life ahead of them.
If you agree, please post your experiences and thanks here.
