She managed to find time to sign an EDM about Darfur, which is not exactly within the boundaries of Romsey!

Thank you. That's going in to the response.

Just got a letter from Mark Williams, MP for Ceredigion

Dear Mr Miles,

Thank you for your email regarding EDM 882 on the Falmer stadium proposals.

I am aware that Brighton & Hove Albion have faced considerable difficulties over the last ten to fifteen years, and I have every sympathy with the situation they face.

Football clubs are of great importance to their local community, and strenuous efforts must always be made to ensure that suitable local stadia are available. Clearly, Brighton's current situation is not tenable, and I sincerely hope that they are able to find a site to develop a stadium, whether that is at Falmer or elsewhere.

However, I do feel that it is not for me to comment or pass judement on planning decisions in other constituencies, and for that reason I will not be signing EDM 882.

I hope you understand my reasons for taking this position, and it will not deter you from contacting me again, should you feel I can be of assistance on this or any other matter.

Yours sincerely

Mark Williams MP

I sent a letter to my local MP, Lib Dem Lynne Featherstone.

My wife and I know her.

This impersonal and disappointing letter came back, which I suspect was drafted by a minion, and given to her to sign. Or maybe the basic template was dictated by Lib Dim head office. On second thoughts, that couldn`t possibly have happenned, because, as she helpfully points out, her "Liberal Democrat colleagues are for de-centralised government".

Politicians...don`t you just have to love them!!?? No reference is made to my mentioning the support of Brighton & Hove Lib Dems, or the sustained and disengenuous use of misleading photos by the anti Falmer brigade.

Re. Brighton Stadium

Thank you foir your correspondance regarding Brighton & Hove Albion`s proposed new stadium in Falmer. I understand your concerns and I know that a stadium is badly needed.

My Liberal Democrat colleagues are for de-centralised government. This means that, where possible, decisions are made at the local level. On these grounds, I follow the local Liberal Democrat opinion and I shall not be signing EDM 882.

I know that Lewes Liberal Democrats have made a very difficult decision in opposing the Falmer Stadium. However, they feel that their action is justified by the significant issues at stake about the future of the South Downs. Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty have the highest levels of landscape protection and it is vital that this policy is not set aside.

I do hope that a solution can be found that satisfies all parties. Please do not hesitate to contact me further on this or any other issue in the future.

yours Sincerely etc.

Dear Mr Coomber

Thank you for your recent e-mail concerning the Early Day Motion put down by my Labour colleague, Desmond Turner MP.

You will be pleased to learn that I have signed this EDM and thank you, once again, for contacting me about this important issue.

Best Wishes

Yours Sincerely

Jim Dowd MP

Brief, and to the point. But the signature's there, so I'm happy enough.

My physically closest MP is Michelle Gildernew, but as she's never even gone to Westminster once, it'd be ever so slightly pointless even trying...

Is there anyone in the North to approach the MPs there that actually take their seat (e.g. not SF?)

Good to see Alan Simpson's signed, especially as he's retiring from parliament after the next election to concentrate on work in other areas, such as environmentalism. So if he's OK with it......

And I found out today that he came into our 6th form last week and gave some kinda assembly thing to the year above (year 13's)

If i'd have known he was coming i woulda talked tried to talk him about it or something.

Oh well we've got 49 so far which is an ok total

My MP John Whittingdale is number 50 on the list.
:clap2: :clap2:

As a Conserative who is Chair of the Culture, Media and Sport Committee, I would hope that him signing the EDM can be used to influence any Tory MP's out there who have not yet added their names.

Time to write again to Tory MP's, letting them know that John Whittingdale has signed.

Right, I've emailed my old MP David Ruffely (CON, Bury st.edmunds) about this.

He is a patron of the Manchester United Supports club so doesn't really like football:jester:

As I'm not a resident anymore, he's not really budging much ....anyone in his constituency?

Who got Colin Burgon (Elmet) to sign. He was vehemently against the stadium prior to the last General election and wrote to me telling me so. I wrote back saying that I wouldn't vote for him in future.

Plus, has anyone got Styephen Pound, now that he has resigned as pps
