Loans Out

Cardiff apparently didnt offer a large enough transfer fee but if he went on loan with a view to possible purchase and they reached the Prem they may up their offer. If not we keep him or iif we reach the Prem and Gus thinks that he can do it for us. If he goes for anything like £1m it would be a great return on our initial investment.

I dont want him to go but am puzzled by the signing of another winger for the remainder of the season.

Maybe to get Razak we agreed to take Assaulin as well. If we are going to make a serious bid for the playoffs we need a squad to cover for injuries.

With respect, your argument is becoming more and more ridiculous. We don't want rid of Noone. Noone hasn't expressed any desire to go. So why on earth would we loan him to Cardiff, if they aren't willing to pay enough for us to say "ok, we'll take the money over having he player". Don't you see the lack of sense in saying "no, we won't take £1.2m for the guy we would really like to keep, but take him on loan so we lose the player we want to keep, and only save a couple of grand on his wages each week for only three months"?

Your entire argument seems to be based on Assulin being a winger, when in fact he is an attacking midfielder/winger. Like Reyes is a right back/midfielder. Winger is a role Assulin can play, if necessary. But he is also, and primarily, an attacking midfielder.

Even if he were solely a winger, so what? We have Agdestein, Barnes, and CMS for the "2 strikers position", and generally, we have only played with one striker, yet still brought in Paynter and now Vokes.

Gus likes to have options. Having Assulin in the team gives him the option to have Assulin in the middle, with one of the wingers, and allows him the flexibility to move Assulin to the other wing if he needs to, or start with Assulin on one wing, one of the other three on the other wing, then, if needed, bring one or both of the other wingers on and move assulin into the middle.

Is it not possible that Cardiff came in with a price that was acceptable to Brighton but not in time to do the deal before the window closed so the only way to get around this is a loan with an agreement to buy during the summer.

I think BG may be on to something here. Gus is shuffling the pack again looking for a bit extra whilst balancing the books. Hoskins went out on loan against the better judgement of the masses, so Noone to Cardiff is not that ridiculous. Granted the player and the fans are not particularly favourable to him moving to our rivals.

Loan out Nooney, your having a laugh. But with the loan signings we've made i would think about sending JFC and Adgestein to league one.

It would be great (NOT) if Noone were to score the winner against us in the playoff final. Will never be allowed to happen.

I think JFC would be a good call, to a descent League 1 team on a 3 month deal, as long as he gets 1st team footie, i think his chances will be limited with us now. We won't loan Noonie!

Possible? Yes. But unlikely. But agreeing a fee for a full transfer late is different to having every offer turned down and then deciding on a loan instead (which you initially suggested), or loaning with the chance of cancelling the transfer (which you suggested in the post I quoted). (Why would we loan a player we want to keep to a team who might not want to keep him if they don't go up, or who might not want him because they can get better when they do go up? What would that do to the player's confidence and feelings towards the club?).

But all reports out of both clubs are that no agreement was reached, Noone is staying. If we had reached an agreement, would he have played v millwall and risk injury? If we had reached an agreement, why is there no news today (apparently the first opportunity for teams that want to loan that includes play offs)?

As a loan player he couldnt play against us.

It's nothing like the Bennett situation, who put in a transfer request so that he could speak to Norwich. Noone told fans himself he didn't want to go and Gus didn't want to sell him.

Was hoskins regularly in the team when fit? When on the bench was he looked at as a game changer? Noone - 28 appearance, been an unused sub twice. Even when coming on as a sub he is never given less than 22 minutes. Hoskins has made 9 appearances (6 as a sub, four of which were less than 20 minutes), and has been unused as a sub 4 times. We had accepted a surprisingly low (according to the masses) offer for Hoskins from Bournemouth. He have accepted no offers, not even the 1.2m raising to £1.5m from Cardiff.

Hoskins - a player we were not reliant on, and had previously accepted an offer for (allegedly)
Noone - a key player, a regular, and someone who we have declined numerous generous offers for.

The comparison is not a fair one.

I said all along a loan to buy. (see post no 11)

Let me say I hope I am wrong but it wouldnt surprise me if it happened

Your initial post said simply players to loan out. No specifics. But a loan to buy that would give them or us the option not to go through with the sale won't happen. It makes no sense to us, or to noone. The only ones who benefit are Cardiff. It makes no business or football sense. If a deal with a guarantee to buy him at the end of the window was agreed, noone wouldn't have featured v millwall and we would have heard about it by now. You have nothing to worry about.

A permanent sale in the summer on the other hand... (should Assulin, Buckley and Lualua make Noone less pivotal to Gus, or should Cardiff come in with a higher offer)

I did yes but clarified it in my next post. These things do happen Spurs have just signed a Brazilian player agreed a fee etc but he is on loan because of the transfer windows. If the deal had been agreed by both clubs it could happen

The brazilian player really wants to play in the premier league, the club would have an unhappy player if they forced him to stay, and they would lose him at the end of his contract any way. Noone doesn't really want to play for cardiff, he is happy to stay at brighton and there isn't the fear that he will run out his contract out of desire to get to cardiff.
