Lloyd Owusu

From Owls Online.com
Wednesday striker Lloyd Owusu could be set for a reunion with his former Brentford manager Steve Coppell, now with second division rivals Brighton and Hove Albion.

Owusu was known to be frustrated when he was dropped to make way for Shefki Kuqi's return from international duty and the signing of Adam Proudlock in recent weeks and has had little impact as a substitute.
The Slough born frontman was linked with a return back south during the summer and has struggled to settle in Sheffield and at Wednesday in general.
It was under Coppell that Owusu had his best spell of his career, firing Brentford to the second division play-off final in which was the pair's last match for the club. Should Owusu move to Brighton, he would be obviously reunited with former Owls loanee Leon Knight who played with Owusu, when he was fit, last season.

If Owusu is coming here can we assume that SC is not going to Reading?:dunce:

I think Owusu would be a great signing, a bit of height and power to sit alongside Knight.

I know he hasn't scored many for Wednesday, but then nor did Leon. He hit shedloads for Brentford, especially when Coppell was in charge, and as a London lad, must fancy a move back south.

Well said Edna. Knight wasn't too hot for wednesday but is doing well under Coppell and I reckon Owusu could do the same. When Henderson goes back to Reading, Owusu would be the ideal replacement.

He looked like the sort of player that we need to link up with Knight. Henderson just does not look the part for some reason. He seemed to be knackered from the moment the match started till it finished against Wednesday.

The Owusu situation is one almost identical to that of Knight. This guy is a proven goalscorer and when his contract ran out with Brentford, there were at least five clubs after him. He chose Wednesday simply becuase the offered him the best financial package. The downside to this, of course, is his career has suffered and he has underperformed.

My only worry would be whether we could afford him, he must be on a fair whack at Wednesday (Cardiff were one of the interested clubs back then and they are not short of a bob or two).

If he signs (and he and Knight stay fit), I guarantee we will win the championship! :bounce:

From owlsonline,

this guy seems to be a bit of an insider....

''owusu left training today and the rumour was he's travelling to brighton today to sign.

apparently the team bus was held up after the game as leon knights dad with having a right ding dong argument with colin west! everyone could see from the coach, fingers pointing and things but couldn't hear what was being said!
''
safe to say it wasn't all the best for the rest of the season!''

Would that mean that Wednesday would sign Luke Beckett?

Not that I care. Wednesday have been on a down for several years now, and they will not get automatic promotion this season.
