Darlo are also on the edge after a friendly v Middlesboro was postponed last week. The bloke hoping to take over says the administrators decision to make all the club staff redundant this morning was a misunderstanding and they still will have a job tomorrow.

In what way are they the first? ???
The first of the Scottish League clubs to go bust because the Setanta TV money wasn't paid to the SPL. ESPN and Sky have now bought the TV rights but the deal is only two thirds of what Setanta had originally bid.

Cowdenbeath have done a Brighton and sold their ground before they have anywhere to go, would'nt be surprised if they f*** it all up and drift into extinction :nono:

Livingston were in financial trouble for months before Setanta went bust. Not receiving the Setanta money probably didn't help, but it certainly didn't cause their situation.

Basically it's ridiculous that there are so many professional teams in such a small country where almost everyone supports one of two teams.

Livingston aren't in the SPL so wouldn't have lost any money from the TV deal anyway

Ferranti Thistle were voted into the Scottish league in the mid 1970s having existed for many years previously. However, as they were, in effect, a works team, they weren't allowed to use the Ferranti name so had to change it, which they did to Meadowbank.

Playing at the Meadowbank athletics stadium in Edinburgh, and competing against Hearts and Hibs for crowds, they used to average about 200-300.

Faced with this and given the chance to move to a new stadium in a new town with a relatively untapped catchment area, they decided to go for it and Livingston FC was born.
