He should have made subs earlier, it was blindingly obvious that Liverpool were getting on top, with the ref’s help before the first goal. Not hindsight, I was screaming for subs before the goal. Ayari especially and hoped Baleba would be brought on
I don't think Baleba was fit enough sadly and personally I thought Ayari was immense. But they may well have scored the goals even if he had made earlier subs.

I'm not blaming the ref as such, but the decisions that went for Liverpool early in the second half contributed to the swing in momentum.
It was the same between the 20th and 30th minute approximately when he gave them three soft fouls in quick succession and put us under the cosh with a load of corners.

As for Mac Allister booting Veltman on the knee when he was already on a yellow, well, you won't get the dismissal at Anfield. If it had been Ayari doing the same to Alexander Arnold, however...

Ah well. Very good performance and a lot of encouragement. Thought the homer ref helped Liverpool build the pressure significantly by giving almost every 50-50 as a free kick against us.

Would love to see some offside lines on the equaliser. Nunez definitely made a movement at the ball which deceived Bart. If he WAS in an offside position when Gakpo crossed it and that's not deemed to be offside, then the law is officially a joke. A replay of the challenge on Gruda would have been nice too. Not because it particularly looked like a foul, just because it would be the norm in that scenario. Amazing how two of the quickest VAR checks ever just happen to occur when it's one of the title favourites at home.
it seemed to me that VAR didn't even bother looking at the first one - all too happy celebrating the equaliser, maybe.

Exactly. How on earth is FH responsible for us conceding two quick goals against the best team in the country.
We dominated the first half, then totally retreated into our shell in the second, same as we did against Wolves. Their attackers were overloading the wings and cutting inside every single time on Wednesday night, both goals came from the exact same thing today. Yeah they have a few players that are on a different level to ours, but I just feel we ended up rolling over a bit for them tbh. We had the momentum and chose to come out playing the low block for 45 mins. Then no subs until the damage has already been done…

I know it’s not going to be a popular opinion, I don’t want to have doubts about the manager and obviously didn’t expect us to get anything today before kick off, but there does seem to be an air of naivety about his approach in my view. I do think he is learning lessons as he goes, but it’s whether we’re happy for him to have a ‘transition season’ or not really.

As said, if TB accepts that and sees FH as an investment, and is happy with us not qualifying for Europe this season despite the £200m spend, then fair enough. I just really, strongly believe this team is good enough to finish in the top 6 and should have the freedom and belief to take it to any team in the league.
