PLEASE confirm that the current Albion team could not beat this Liverpool side.

What is evident is that The Albion, clearly, are coached much better.

... for Liverpool, yes.

Why does he never come near that sort of form for England?

Because he never gets played in the marauding, rampaging role that serves him so well at Liverpool.

It's a shame, because on his day, he is an unbelievable footballer. His 3rd tonight was a superb goal.

The reason Gerrard is so much better for Liverpool is that the team is baisically baised around him and he has a free role. For England he needs to be diciplined and doesnt have the freedom.

Hard not to be impressed by that whoever one supports. Came on, took the game by the throat and won it...simples

Having gone to the game last night I'd have to agree with this.

Napoli looked in control going in at half time and their supporters were certainly enjoying themselves. The atmosphere was excellent (although Liverpool fans were disapointing IMO).

Gerrard was superb when we came on, he completly turned the game. Napoli started panicking as shown by the (unecessary) foul for the pen, that put Liverpool firmly in control.

Anfield really is a superb arena although its showing its age some what.

Quite, talk about we only sing when we're winning, and they had the nerve to trot out "You're not singing anymore" to the Napoli fans in the final minutes.

Of course we never do that do we?

Liverpool must have known they wouldn't sell out by Tuesday, as they are TOO big for the eufa cup in their fans eyes, so why didn't they give Napoli more tickets or just move that silly black netting along, when there are maybe only 1000 outside wanting to get in, they did have tickets, although for the Liverpool end but as we know any scouser would sell their granny for an extra tenner (we got in the home stand at Charlton!!)

So the Gerrard Sticking Plaster once again hides the gaping wound that is Liverpool's form of recent years. A team in decline clutching at their history and shored up by one player who is head and shoulders better than the rest.

So many double standards on here where Liverpool are concerned. If Scousers go to away games without tickets or with tickets for the home end-they 'get all they deserve' when something bad happens. Napoli do the same thing, turn up with tickets for the home end (remembering the stabbing of Liverpool fans who were in Napoli) and you say Liverpool should have let them in and made room for them. Brilliant.

It baffles me when people try to say that Hodgson teams poor performance is down to Rafa. Rafa is leagues and miles ahead of Roy in managerial ability

The problem was Rafa alienated (pissed off) so many good players - and then replaced them with untried/shit ones (Alonso/Aquilani the biggest and most costly one). His business in the transfer market was embarrassing

Stevie G is indeed world class. To be fair this season in his games for England, he has looked every inch the player he has been at Liverpool for all these years. When he is playing like that it's a privelige to watch him.

Gerrard flatters to deceive though. Sometimes, like last night, he comes on and single handedly can win a game. But just think back to the World Cup and the last few qualifiers - and come to think of it almost every Liverpool game this season.

He'll sit back, deep in his own half 'spraying' long passes around, completing less than half of them - trying the long glory through ball with the outside of his foot etc. 99% of the time, it won't come off and they will surrender possession, but occasionally everything will work and he'll look a world beater. Compare his 'long ball' and 'charging around' game to Spain or Arsenal's key midfield players (or even the mighty Albion!) and their tiki-taka possession - Gerrard isn't able to do it, I don't think technically he is as good a player as everyone thinks. If he wasn't English, he wouldn't be considered one of the best midfielders around IMHO.

Having said that, he was exceptional last night and if he plays that well (and that far up the pitch) for England, we'll be laughing
