Liverpool will have up to 12 more games to play next season due to CL commitments, it makes sense to boost the squad, they can't rely on Suarez and Sturridge to play 60 matches. There's far to Lambert's game than people give him credit for.

This signing is tied up with the Lallana deal. LFC don't want to pay the £5m sell on fee to Bournemouth so overpaid for Lambert. This confirms lallana will sign for 20m in the next few days. So the deal is lallana for 25m and lambert for 5m.

No, he won't play every week, although I'm still not convinced that Suarez will be around next season. If he goes, though, they'll just sign another striker. I think Lambert is the sort of player who can come in when needed and do a great job, and who's also the Plan B. Liverpool weren't far off last season, sometimes a slightly off the wall signing is the one who makes the difference.
Not saying he's the same type of player, but Cantona from Leeds was a bit of a surprise punt by Fergie. The rest is history.

He will work his socks of for the team being that he is a Scouser and its the team he supports, he will set a good example for others around him and be a great pro. It is a strange signing no doubt, but I guess its another oprion for Brendan and the team.

Could easily turn out to be a good signing for both parties I reckon.
After a few PL seasons I think he's now shown that he's a genuinely good player and with his ability to both score and create goals he's never going to be too far away from the first team, especially with him offering something different to the Sturridge/Suarez partnership.
It'll probably mean less football overall for him, but the extra rest he'd get could very well mean that he's able to make a greater impact when he does appear, he's hardly a young 'un after all.
If nothing else, he seems a decent bloke and has put in some serious graft to get where he is now, which should be admired regardless.

There are not many reasons to envy Saints fans - but I would not have minded spending the last few years watching Lambert and Lallana. Had we Lambert or Lallana we would have been promoted.

Many a youngster has been bought by a top Premier side for many millions only to fall away. Lambert may be 32 but he does the business and as others have said, he is different to Suarez and Sturridge. He has a couple of good years in him I reckon and as much as I dislike Liverpool FC, I hope he gets the respect of the fans there and does well for them, I have a lot of respect for players like him, who almost fell out of the pro game completely and then, make the absolute most of the chance that comes their way.

Liverpool have virtually nothing to lose on this one. He's cheap by their standards, it's his absolute dream move, so unlike many 32 year old strikers, he'll be 100% motivated, and he's still got plenty of goals in him given a few chances.
