Slightly off topic but do Albion fans normally wear the stripes at away games?

. But as a spectacle, it’s a long way to go for such boringly predictable fayre, I seriously look forward more to trips to Burnley, Watford etc. You’re very welcome to Old Trafford’s Emirates and Anfields of this world. Especially as the supporter facilities are shite compared to our Amex. Prepare to be underwhelmed!
Winning a vital point at the Emirates wasn't 'boringly predictable fayre'.

The Astral Planes, man...
I was just wondering what people's thoughts were about attendance for the above and whether we are likely to sell all the tickets in the away end?

I am an Albion+ member and go to most of the home games but don't seem to be able to get tickets for the closer away games as they sell out to the season ticket holders before it gets to us (not complaining, that's the way it is!).

My wife wants to go to Liverpool to see the city and I thought I might arrange to go up there for a few days and also go to the match. I would have been able to get tickets for Man City and Newcastle away but wondered if those with more experience might have an idea if the Liverpool fixture normally sells out? I am guessing that the further away games I would have a better chance of securing tickets.

Will wait a couple of weeks to see if the fixture time changes for TV before booking accommodation but what do you reckon the chances of getting a ticket are?

If you want to go to tick off a stadium then that's fine, take photos of the iconic gates and the 96 memorial etc but don't expect a memorable experience. You can't sit down in the away end; your knees will be wrapped around the person in front of you, the concourse is enclosed in wire mesh and your choice of drink will be restricted to er... Carlsberg. It's good to say you've been to Anfield but you wouldn't want to go twice.

Definitely one of the many crap away sections, the food’s rubbish too.

The stand will be replaced in the next 2 years.

You don’t really need me to explain I was speaking generally? I knew some pedant would quote the one occasion in last 13 away at the likes of that we finally got a point and goal. The other 12 we just rained goals and left such legendary homes of giants like Mr Bridgers boys didn’t we?

They need to get it right, it’s been done at least 3 times in my life...! Or am I just getting old? But yes, it’s bit rubbish and the upper tier isn’t any better either if you’ve not been in. Better when it was just one.

Thanks everyone, appreciated. Looks like tickets wont be an issue and I really just thought I may as well do the game if we are looking to have a weekend in Liverpool sometime. Cheers!

Anyone who wants to go to this can get a ticket. Just be patient. It won’t sell out as HT alludes. Holds no interest to the older fans as we’ve all been and, like yday, football is now so biased in favour of a few teams at the top these type of away games aren’t a sporting contest anymore. Still attractive if you’re into football tourism mind. You can say you’ve been and stand their with your phone posting it online to millions of potential viewers who won’t give a shit. But as long as you can show you’re ‘there’ and it’s ‘incredible’ that’s the main thing. But as a spectacle, it’s a long way to go for such boringly predictable fayre, I seriously look forward more to trips to Burnley, Watford etc. You’re very welcome to Old Trafford’s Emirates and Anfields of this world. All the above (and I took the pictures as well) but have to say Anfield do a great 'experience' regarding pre-match entertainment, food and drinks around the outside of the ground. All be it very expensive.

I dont' go to 'tick off a ground' or to take pictures, I don't care what the facilities are like (no worse at Anfield than Stockport on a cold Tuesday night in the middle of winter)

I simply go to support my team. which is unconditional.

It's one of the few away games that I definitely go to. I have a scouse mate who is in their equivalent of the 1901; so I'll get a free ticket, a three-course meal and drinks before the game, listen to a Liverpool legend drone on and on in the pre-match speech, have half-time drinks waiting for us and leave Anfield having been soundly beaten.

And then a night out in Liverpool, one of my favourite cities - can't wait.

Wasn't at all welcoming for away fans, one of the very worst in the country. We were not even allowed to walk around the stadium we were only allowed to go in the away section. Even at Millwall you are able to walk around everywhere before the game. Everything was surrounded by metal fencing and it felt like you were boarding a plane when going through security, never had such a strong cuddle during a search.

Did you arrive by coach? Only asking because we drove, went into town before the match and then got the tram back- we were free to wander round the stadium- their outdoor bar / square bit etc and made our way round to the away end. Ironically to get to the away turnstiles we then had to go out and round some fencing to get to the ‘secure zone’. So I guess the security only works if you come by coach or happen to arrive at that entrance.

Absolutely pointless trying to separate fans like that as there is zero chance of any trouble IMHO.

Facilities seemed pretty standard to me- poor that they sold out of programmes, beer in recyclable plastic beakers made the concourse look a bit like a kids party, and the pies looked like bog standard circa 1982 affairs... pretty typical of most grounds..

No by train and walked to the ground,, stewards would only let us in the away bit, my daughter had her shirt on so they could see we were away fans, maybe that was it

We arrived by tram and had to walk thru the fanzone and club shop area and outside entertainment halfway round the ground to get to the away turnstiles. Repeat in reverse to get out. (much the same as the Amex for visiting fans arriving by train)
Don't know of any grounds that let you inside to walk all the way round

I don't mean inside I mean like the Amex around the outside. Obviously you can if you go by tram then.

Incidentally how long was the tram queue after the game, we chose to walk as we were attempting the catch the 1735, which we made with 5 minutes to spare

Don't need to catch the tram to walk around, just walk in one of the entrances off the road. Once we got to the queue took about 20 mins to board. We were back in a pub in the Printworks near Picadilly Gardens approx 5:45 - 6pm

We were told by the stewards we couldnt we had to keep on the road. Anyway looks like we chose the right option to walk then
